Orienteering (Foot) 1:14:23 [3] *** 6.23 km (11:56 / km) +265m 9:51 / km
spiked:15/20c slept:6.0 (sick)

Great Falls National Park, MD. I ran a course that Peggy setup and flagged for me and Dave Onkst. The best thing about it was that I was able to run through the whole course; I feel like I'm turning the tide on being sick. In fact, the longer I was out, the stronger I felt. I suppose I had settled into a pace that I knew I could keep. Even though it was slower than usual, I was happy to be able to run up even the steep hills. As I ran the course, I picked-up streamers on the clock. I ran the extended course and it took a while to realize that the extension controls weren't streamered. I didn't want to leave any old streamers out so I wandered the area for the first of the extended course controls checking, reattacking and checking again to be sure I was where the control should be. I also ran a bit extra at the end to get back to the car without passing the park entrance. I was legally paid for being in the park but I didn't want to risk raising worry about orienteering there. For the most part, I was reading the map well, aided by going much slower than usual. Conditions in the woods were great.

Running (Street & Trail) 33:51 [3] 4.5 mi (7:31 / mi)
slept:8.0 (sick)

From Rosedale Ave., Battery La. to Glenbrook Rd. to Edgemoor La. to Arlington Dr. to Bethesda Dr. to the Georgetown Branch Trail to Kentbury St. to Rosedale Ave; then to the intersection of Wisconsin Ave. and Harling La. & back. 52 F outside and I felt cold enough to wear sweats and gloves. The first part of this loop I had run on Monday. It took me 27:04 today; about a minute faster. The second part was out and back to the pharmacy to pickup perscriptions. I'm still feeling slow and weak from being sick. My lungs are congested and I'm not getting enough oxygen. I spent the first half mile hacking away and plodded through the rest of it.

Running (Street & Trail) 28:05 [3] 3.62 mi (7:45 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:167.5lbs (sick)

From Rosedale Ave., Battery La. to Glenbrook Rd. to Edgemoor La. to Arlington Dr. to Bethesda Dr. to the Georgetown Branch Trail to Kentbury St. to Rosedale Ave. I think I last ran this on 1/26/06. I felt slow then but was feeling so weak from still being sick, that I was slower today.

With my parents coming over and still feeling sick, I figure that a rest will do me good.
