Note
slept:7.0 weight:174lbs

There wasn't a lot of free time for working out with Max's birthday party and putting up holiday lights. I did however find time for ice cream :)

2 PM

Orienteering (Field Checking) 2:38:00 [1] 2.0 mi (1:19:00 / mi)
slept:5.5 weight:174.5lbs

Cabin John Park, MD. From the playground and picnic parking lot off Tuckerman Rd., I covered the slope below the train tracks and parts of the powerline break. It was nice to have the day off.
5 PM

Running (Street & Trail) 27:16 [3] 3.4 mi (8:01 / mi)

From Northfield Rd. to Old Georgetown Rd. via Greenwich Park, to W. Cedar Ln. to Rockville Pike, to the Bethesda Trolley Trail to Maple Ave. to Old Georgetown Rd. to Huntington Pkwy. to Custer Rd. to Northfield Rd. I ate a snack just before going out on this. My first mile was about 7:50. I felt tired and just plodded through.

Running (Street & Trail) 24:17 intensity: (16:17 @3) + (8:00 @4) 3.22 mi (7:32 / mi)
slept:5.5 weight:173.5lbs

From Northfield Rd., Greenwich Park, to Old Georgetown Rd. to Beech Dr. N. Bethesda Middle School to Bradmore Dr. to McKinley St. to Garfield St., to Roosevelt St., to the trail at Jefferson St. to Northfield Rd. It was the first night this fall that I wore gloves. It turned out only to be around 40F with no winds. I wore too much with a long sleeve shirt and regular nylon sweats but I was less intimidated about getting out in the cooler weather; that sets up a better pattern for later. I felt pretty good overall. That was surprising after another busy day at work and with Peggy and I having taken Max out to dinner for his 7th birthday. He's young but not so little any more.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
weight:173.5lbs

45 situps. Working late and not sleeping enough evaporates motivation, again.

11 PM

Running (Street & Trail) 16:48 [3] 2.2 mi (7:38 / mi) +27m 7:21 / mi
slept:5.0 weight:173.5lbs

From Northfield Rd. I ran up to Custer Rd., to Wilson La., to Exeter Rd. to Glenbrook Rd. to the Bethesda Trolley Trail, to the NIH grounds, to Maple Ridge Rd. to Georgetown Pike, to Huntington Pkwy., to Custer Rd. to Northfield Rd. It was about 46 F and a breeze was blowing in colder, drier air. I probably wouldn't have gone to run had I not also gone shopping earlier. Then again I may have gone longer if I hadn't spent the time doing that. I was kind of sluggish on the run.

Bicycling (Commute) 37:35 [3] 12.1 mi (3:06 / mi)
slept:4.5 weight:175lbs

From Northfield Rd., to 12th and C Street, SW, Washington, D.C. I rode my road bike and let Max take the bus to school. The temperature was about 54F starting off--great anytime of the year but super in late November. The winds were calm.
6 PM

Bicycling (Commute) 40:23 intensity: (15:00 @3) + (25:23 @4) 11.9 mi (3:24 / mi)

From 12th & C St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD. I got out of the building courtyard just as the guard was about to latch the gate. With still wonderful weather, I cruised the darkness. Initially I needed to get used to seeing in the sort of tunnel vision that a headlamp gives; the perifery can be seen but in sloppy shapes except for some ocassional lights. I moved well but tried to pace myself early. On the uphill grades I pushed more. By the River Rd. overpass, I was slowing down and felt some slight headwinds. It was warm so it felt good. I slowed more on Glenwood before getting a second wind. I was just 4 seconds faster than 2 weeks back without knowing the time along the way.

Orienteering (Field Checking) 2:30:00 [1] 2.5 mi (1:00:00 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:176.5lbs (rest day)

Cabin John Park, MD. From the playground and picnic parking lot off Tuckerman Rd., I covered the picnic and train track grounds. There was a lot of detail that would make for a good sprint but it's a bit much to capture for a 1:10,000 map. Most of the forest that I was in was ligh green. It was a nice day with temparatures in the 60s F.
