Orienteering race (Australian Relay Champs) 44:56 [3] *** 5.72 km (7:51 / km) +140m 7:00 / km
spiked:6/12c shoes: VJ Integrator - Silver

Australian Relay Champs, Hunters Hut Station W21E.
Third Leg runner in a team consisting of Hanny and Antler. Started well but was distracted by another runners at 5 and it all went down hill from there, mucked up 6 pretty badly, distracted again by people sitting on a fence. Distracted at 8 by the assembly/ start area, distracted at 9 by more runners, hit 10 fine but I was getting bored and tired by 11 so lost concerntration then also. V. Bad run.
Was pretty tired from the weeks running and the heat. Pretty disappointed with the week, should have realised the heat was going to be such a big factor!

Orienteering race (Aus Champs) 2:15:08 [3] *** 13.23 km (10:13 / km) +350m 9:01 / km
spiked:5/18c shoes: Salomon XA Pro

Australian Orienteering Championships, Hidden Glen, W21E.
One of the worst races I have ever done. Was super long and I fucked up nearly all of the controls, cant believe I didnt DNF this one.

Running (Hervey Bay Coastline) 20:00 [2]
slept:8.0 shoes: Brooks T4 Racer

Easy morning run to loosen up the legs for this arvo's sprint race.

Orienteering race (Australian Sprint Champs) 23:24 [4] *** 4.09 km (5:43 / km)
spiked:23/25c shoes: Salomon XA Pro

Australian Sprint Champs 2008 - Maryborough Show Grounds. W21E
Best sprint race I have done in awhile, made 2 stupid mistakes still. One at no. 9 which wasnt entirely my fault since it was very sneakliy placed. The second was at 15, when I ran past it but the mapping of the fence it was on was a bit out of proportion! Had some stomach issues as well which made running interesting.

Orienteering race (NOL Race 15/ Schools Indv) 1:02:36 [3] *** 7.42 km (8:26 / km) +250m 7:13 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: VJ Integrator - Silver

Australian Schools Individuals/ NOL Race 15, Graveyard Creek.
Another late start at 12 noon so was pretty hot by the time I started, but was well hydrated this time. So annoyed with myself with this race, made a stupid stupid mistake on 1 and lost about 2 mins which was enough to leave me running the entire race by myself. The map was great, nice and open, grassy and bit of rock detail. So disappointed that I screwed this race up, didnt have the motivation to push through the tough bits so decided to slow down and just keep a solid pace and nail the controls. Managed to do this, but my time was super average.

Running (Hervey Bay Coastline) 32:00 [3] 5.52 km (5:48 / km)
shoes: Brooks T4 Racer

Rest Day 1.
Easy afternoon jog with Ryan, Louis and Antler along the beach and then back home behind the dunes on the bike path. Pretty heavy and stiff in the legs so used this to stretch them out a bit. Had a nice swim and spa session when we got back to Whale Cove Resort.

Orienteering race (Qld Long Dist. Champs) 1:35:02 [4] *** 10.53 km (9:02 / km) +300m 7:54 / km
spiked:10/16c shoes: Salomon XA Pro

Queensland Long Distance Champs, Aramara State Forest.
Early start made a big difference, felt heaps better running. Improving on the long distance races but still dont have a fast pace so time is pretty slow still. Happy with my effort this time. Mistakes were only in the control circle and were fairly minor but could have been avoided if I concerntrated a bit harder.

Orienteering race (Aust Middle Dist. Champs) 50:56 [3] *** 5.08 km (10:02 / km) +150m 8:44 / km
spiked:9/14c shoes: VJ Integrator - Silver

Australian Middle Distance Champs at North Aramara.
As soon as I started I knew it was going to be tough, 2 in the afternoon and it was getting close to 30 degrees! Coming from Hobart that was too much of a jump for me so about half way round my body couldnt handle much more than a slow jog to walking. Started really well but after a few controls was getting too hot to keep up the pace. First big mistake was at 7 which was the first technical control, just couldnt concentrate even tho it was pretty simple, mucked up nearly every other control after that and was just walking. Time was terrible and didnt even bother to look at results.
