Endless Wall trail in New River Gorge NP. Fern Creek TH loop.

Nice view of the bridge from Diamond Point. We thought there would be lots of views of the Endless Wall but only occasional glimpses. Much of the trail was shrouded in thick rhododendrons. Nice lunch at Diamond Point.

For dinner, we had the unstuffed peppers that we had dehydrated earlier.

Fayette Station scenic drive and audio tour. This is the narrow, winding road that crossed the old bridge over the New River.

Arrived at Chestnut Creek Campground about 45 minutes before dark and it was raining. We took a site with a platform and roof where we pitched the tent. Hadn't planned to do the platform but many sites were sloped, had puddles or lots of roots. Plus it would have been messy to set up in the rain. The shelter was nice and big enough for our large tent and for us to sit in chairs in from of the tent without getting wet.

The campground was odd--virtually empty. The sites were wooded and relatively private but as I said, many were sloped and not as nice as I was expecting. There was no one around to check us in but I did communicate with the host by text.
