Orienteering race (WA Long Champs) 48:55 [5] *** 6.33 km (7:44 / km) +181m 6:46 / km
spiked:10/11c shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 255

Hard to image a worse preparation for a race. Arrived at the Campervan hire place to be told our van had a broken window and would be an hour's wait. With Deb starting at 10:30 we were already on a tight timeframe. The hour turned into 2 and 1/2 and my start at 11:30 was also in danger. Wet and windy weather meant a slow trip.

I missed my start by 25 mins but had easily my best run of the year and my elapsed time would have had me 3rd, less than a minute behind Geoff Lawford and 3 behind Rob V!

Deb, who was 1hr 25 late, arrived at the Start to find that, somehow, there were no W55 maps left! So she grabbed a W50 map and ran well enough to have placed 7th on elapsed time.

Unfortunately, as our van problems were not the organisers fault, we couldn't be reinstated.

About an hours walk with Deb down by the river and Ascot Racecourse after our flight from Sydney.

Morning run in Sydney from hotel down to the harbour. Great morning with spectacular views, must bring the phone next time and take some photos! After fighting off Deb's cold for weeks I think I might be finally succumbing...just in time for WA and the nationals:-(

First early morning run of the year. Was quite cool too. Easy run down to the bridge ar Marshall's Creek and back via the southern end of Rocky Hill. Garmin back in the land of the living.
