shoes: Montrail Highlander

Flying pig relay Red. Because of paperwork mixup, there was much confusion prior to run, which became more a practice run for the next day. A few bobbles, but generally OK navigation wise. But clearly I need more work on hills. It was a tough course, but not that tough.

Tried something new--interval-style training with the runs not quite so fast, and the walks as fast as possible. Putting more evidence in theory that running training is not very effective for fast-walking training. Seemed like a pretty good workout.
Also going back to carrying my neighborhood topo with me.

First A event of the year--off to another slow start...

Mentally, not very good--in too much of a hurry (unlike last weekend at HR where I was much more careful). The map was actually pretty easy (relative to HR anyway) so I got careless. Lots of small mistakes and one HUGE one (10-12 min).

Well, I'm glad I've relearned my lesson (I hope)--which was the point of driving down for Sunday of this meet before flying pig and West Point.
