JK Overall

Pos: 33/77
Winner: M. Speake 127:08mins (+35:44 mins +28%)

Pretty good weekend, all races within 130% of the winner. Clearly improved fitness and had 4 clean runs. Particularly pleased with classic race, didn't break 2hrs but it was on the long side and % down was best yet.

JK Day 4 - Mens Open - Relay Leg 2 - Hambledon

Jez had a decent first leg and I went out in 27th just behind a few good M120 teams. Went steady on first hill and gradually caught them around c4 but lost map contact and ended up too high. Fairly easy from there and just got ahead of a small group to set Neil off in 22nd.

Mistakes ~2:00 mins
(4)(1:30) - Wrong gaffle, went to depression too high
(9)(0:30) - Went to wrong thicket in large reent.

JK Day 3 - M21E - Classic WRE - Cold Ash & Bucklebury Common

Very good race. Physically judged it about right, but last 10mins were tough. Caught 3min man at c10 and we were together from then to the end. Strange situation as he was slightly faster but less confident on nav and I was taking better lines. Therefore I led the way to all but 2 of the next 22 controls and he blindly followed me into a few errors. Don't think I gained anything directly but his presence made me focus more and he pulled ahead on the last loop which kept me pushing. As with the middle, last 10 splits better than finish position.

Mistakes ~4:30 mins
(3)(0:15) - Hesitated before descending
(4)(0:15) - Hesitated and undershot
(10)(0:15) - RC path round was better than straight
(14)(0:30) - First control in Bucklebury green - overshot slightly
(21)(0:30) - No bearing in flat featureless area
(23)(0:30) - Drifted mid leg and hit fence, extra distance to go round
(27)(0:45) - Cut in too early to green/ditch area
(29)(1:30) - Dodgy green area should have approached from above

JK Day 2 - M21E - Middle - Hambledon

Decent run and paced it well pushing hard in very runnable forest and steep climbs. Couple of early mistakes where better bearings would have helped. RC at c10 not best but avoiding climb may have helped as I hit everything really well on the final spur and last 9 splits all better than finish position.

Mistakes ~1:45 mins
(4)(0:30) - Looking for a dodgy distinctive tree, needed better bearing
(6)(0:45) - Short leg mis-read veg, undershoot
(10)(0:30) - Route choice - round hill avoided 30m climb but was slower

JK Day 1 - M21E - Sprint WRE - Reading University

Ran hard and in control until ~c9 (8mins) but then hit a point where brain couldn't keep up and small errors crept in. Caught by 2 min man at c13 and that helped me pace it to the end. Not bad overall considering lack of sprint practice.

Mistakes ~0:30 mins
(5,11)(0:15) - Overshot control/turning
(6,9,10)(0:15) - Routes ok but hesitated in picking them/not reading ahead
