West Point A-Meet- Day 2: Long Event
A hot and a bit sticky as well. Upper 80's DegF. Off to a great start!! when I realized at the start line that I did not have my compass, so got a later start as a compass is really needed in this terrain. Clean to 1, misread the map on the route I selected to 2 thinking there was a trail when it stopped very quickly. The other options involved some green which turned out possibly the better option. A little to the north around control at 3. Slow along the ridge to 5 and down the the edge of the boulderfield on the first part to 6. Once through the fence it was nice running 6,7,8 and the first part up to 9. For 10 took the road option. Clean to 11, slowish to 12, tough underfoot to 13, fast to 14, then the big mistake. Somehow did not go straight to trhe finish, but when arond the lake. What should have taken 45 seconds took 2.38!! Apart form that felt orienteered okay except not thinking far enough ahead.
A good w/e.
