Cycling (Shelley) 2:04:00 intensity: (50:00 @3) + (50:00 @4) + (24:00 @5) 69.0 km (1:48 / km)

Only one rain shower. Still pretty windy though.

Teering race (Shortz) 17:03 [5] 3.5 km (4:52 / km)

Murdoch Uni. Stepped the pace up out of 2 and immediately lost track of where I was. Had to go around just to be sure and lost 30 seconds. Was behind Cath after that and only got past right at the end.

A bit weaker this week, but negligible knee pain.

Running hills 58:00 intensity: (4:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (12:00 @4) + (12:00 @5) 11.0 km (5:16 / km) +200m 4:50 / km

Broadwalk. 92 (54) 61 (4.02) 91 (70) 58 (4.38) 98 (70) 59 (4.35) 104 (66) 62 (4.38) 99. Pulse recovery to 120. 26.30 there and back. So that's about 400m up, stop for a minute or so and then 280m to the top: then jog back down and repeat. So quite variable speeds between 3.45/km to 4.20/km. The top bit is flatter which helped.

Note

If anyone reading this would like to come and take away my 3rd bike for any money up to $40 please feel free. It's a Colnago steel frame dating from the early 1990s, Campagnolo shifters on the down tube, Shimano 105 drive train, Mavic Wheels with newish Vittoria Rubino tyres. Otherwise I'll be putting the frame out for the next clean up day. In 1993 I did a 106km bike race on this bike in 2:39:20 (39.9kmh). Good times.

Cycling (Melville) 2:43:00 intensity: (7:00 @2) + (1:29:00 @3) + (1:00:00 @4) + (7:00 @5) 83.3 km (1:57 / km)

Car Service day, so from and to Melville. AM came back via Shelley, Riverside Dr (bikepath) and Kings Park (45km). PM went with WAR. Got dropped when they hit 52km on Shelley, but got back on with several minutes at 40kmh in a tailwind and a small short cut at the end.

Cycling (Floreat) 1:23:00 [3] 44.0 km (1:53 / km)

Good ride, in leading group up the hills. Rowan led out the sprint and I couldn't go any faster so just stayed on the wheel.

Teering race 1:03:02 [4] *** 9.57 km (6:35 / km) +250m 5:50 / km
spiked:6/17c shoes: Inov8 XC Talon212

Wundabinaring Brook, (Mt Observation). Scrappy early, but got motoring once the long legs started. Straight 8.1km.
1 -20s. stepped off the track and promptly got totally disorientated. However it wasn't far to the flag.
3 -30s. GPS appears to say that the hill is actually 40m west of where it is mapped. So I went 40m east of where I should have gone, plus an extra 20m to check a rock, before turning around and spotting the flag.
4 -30s. 90 seconds is too long to go 60m, even if there were a lot of rocks.
5 -1m. The GPS evidence here isn't so conclusive about that hill. This time I appeared to be following my rough compass (due north from the hill top), but somehow got dragged east.
6 Thought I did this one OK, but probably too careful through detail on the left, since Cath was only 20 seconds down having taken a really wide route to the right.
7 Very happy with this one - gambled on a vague gully run to the right and it paid off. Over 90 seconds quicker than anyone else on this leg - H1 had it too.
8 spiked it unintentionally.
9 -30s. Cath got me here by climbing out of 8. I contoured and got caught in rocks and rubbish.
10 -30s. Really bad exit from 9 - setters had put a hill next to it with an obvious way around to the right. Should have gone left.
11 Passed James Lithgow at 10 and powered away. Got the nice cliff attackpoint so spiked 11.
12 -30s. Still running hard, couldn't identify the attackpoint so overshot.
14 Can't give a time loss as I went straight to it, but Cath was quicker.
F -30s. Not reading map, veered right.
Total -4.20. Not too bad, but nowhere near good enough.
