Saddleback, Long, M60, 1st. Pretty tired and creaky after yesterday, but legs held up. The knees were grumbly but performed well. The zip I had yesterday returned a little bit towards the end when I caught Alex. Lost at least a minute approaching 6 as when I went through the saddle I was expecting the land to slope southeast, not northwest as it did. Took a while to sort that out and Alex who I had just passed got 1:30 ahead. Also took a very wide route on the early part of 8 which was probably another 30 second time loss. Caught Alex at 8 and reverted to sprint mode on the run in from 9.

Pine Tree, Middle, M60, 1st. Epic race and effort. Started 2 minutes ahead of Geoff who had won Easter, so that was playing on my mind. Tried for a fast clean start but derailed at 2 when I could not identify a single feature. Went roughly the right distance and climb and found it after bumbling around for a bit (-1 minute).
3 was easy and got a great attack point for 4, a big Rock face. Then inexplicably started navigating to 5 instead. At one of my double checks realised what I was doing but was well past 4 by this stage.
Ran back where I came from but could not identify anything. Went back to the rock face and tried again and found it by bumbling (-3 Minutes).
Good to 5 and 6, and on the way to 7 passed Geoff. Grr. Now I had to get 2 Minutes back so this was head to head. Slowed down and let Geoff get ahead. He went high to 8, so burst downhill and legged it for 8. Had a small gap so buried myself uphill for 9. Luckily picked the right boulder this time and sprinted downhill to 10. Overshot. On the way back spotted Geoff coming, a bit high. Hid behind the rock at 10 and he overshot as well. Walked up the hill behind him until he turned around and saw me then made a new effort up the hill for 11.
Had a small gap again so roughed it to 12 and got it. Well off line to 13, but running well.
Starting to fade now for 14 and 15. Having trouble verifying the code at 16, but ok. 17 and 18 still keeping the pace high, a bit to the right on 19 and home. Geoff went AWOL somewhere late so survived with a 3 minute margin. At the finish the Garmin said recovery time 33 hours and it certainly felt like it.

Tuve's plank routine - 1 minute plank, 30 secs left leg raise, 30 secs right leg raise, 1 minute right side, 1 minute left side, 1 minute plank. Challenging. Sore for a couple of days after.
