Orienteering race (Easter prologue) 25:09 4.0 km (6:17 / km)
Easter prologue sprint race. Wow, what a shocker. Already messed it up completely at the start. Expected there would be a punch in the triangle which would record a starting time, so I sort of jogged to the triangle and found no punch. Then it dawned on me my time was already running. I hastily set off in the completely wrong direction, as I had misjudged where I had come from. Had to go back to the triangle and saw Ken B. leaving it, who had started a minute behind me. To #3 I went too far left, as I still hadn't got my head around the map and just when I thought I was getting into it I made the biggest mistake of all on the way to #6. Somehow ended up on the opposite side of the hill and couldn't make any sense of all the large boulders I saw there. Ran along the slope in utter confusion until I got to #8. Went back to #5 from there and tried again. This time finding #6 was easy. The race was over, so I continued on without much enthusiasm. No trouble on the remainder of the course, except for stopping short on the way to #12 and getting stuck in a tree towards #16. Sped up a bit towards the end. GPS batteries went flat, so thankfully there's no trace of my noodling.
