Second day of Easter. This was actually even more fun than yesterday, because I had to read the map. Went ok through the first three controls, but lost two minutes on #4, by checking out two other controls in the neighbourhood that I knew weren't in the right spot, but that I just happened to spot. I have to stop doing that. Andre, who had started two minutes behind, passed me here without me realising it.
Then I had fastest splits to #5 and #6, but took a bit of time finding #7. Would have been easier if I had read the control description. Saw Andre here and passed him just before starting the long climb to #8. My route on the long leg to #9 wasn't quite as efficient as Andre's, so he passed me and I lost him, but when I arrived at #9 he got there just after me. Jen was also there and the three of us went to #10, then I followed Andre for a bit but saw him going the wrong way. Caused me a bit of hesitation, but I got to #11 all right.
To #12 I was about to hit it spot on when Andre came past and ran way too far. He looked so confident it made me think I misread the map and I followed him. I've really got to stop being influenced by other people on the course and go my own way. Three minutes lost there. At #14 and #15, I read the detail in the circle poorly. Jen and Andre were there too and again we weren't helping each other much. Coming onto the last leg I was a bit sluggish coming out of the woods until I realised it was the final leg and I absolutely smashed it home. Just beat Juffy and Andre by a second on that final leg, so got to keep my lovely boxer shorts. Lost two minutes to Andre and about eight minutes to Juffy and Tyson and got fourth place on the day.
