Orienteering 2:01:00 [4] 8.4 mi (14:24 / mi)

Messier than the middle! I guess these races were sort of a downhill slide....

Clotheslined myself pretty well across the forehead on a barbed wire fence.

Other evidences of my extreme gracefulness: Bruised right inner calf below the knee, bruised right inner quad above the knee, somewhat swollen right outer calf by my ankle, both knees hit on logs or rocks. My right leg generally came out of it fairly unfavorably.

The barbed wire didn't actually hurt at all and the cut is fairly small, but it looked fairly unique: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3057771&l=9b...

Frustrating long legs, because I think I executed them well for the first 80% of each and then I lost ridiculous amounts of time closer in. Great training being out there for so long, though; I guess one can always find good things in bad runs :-).

Orienteering 1:02:30 [3] 4.0 km (15:38 / km)
shoes: orienteering shoes

Time is approximate.

The middle was messy...it started straight down an impressively steep, muddy, green hillside, which was somewhat slow but not too bad navigationally...but then I messed up 2--and Cristina caught me--hit 3 and 4 well and then somehow completely destroyed 5. Or, I guess 5 completely destroyed me would be better wording. Yikes!

Cold and very rainy...I had some difficulty folding the map for the first few controls because my fingers were so uncoordinated.

But the second half was better, and it was good fun to see everyone (although not while I was in the woods: -)).

Orienteering 15:41 [3] 2.5 km (6:16 / km)
shoes: orienteering shoes

Okay, finally getting caught up!

Sprint at Team Trials. Distance is thereabout.

Almost missed the start, but there was a beautiful run over to it.

Mostly clean run; I bobbled control 5 and lost ~20 seconds (?), but it was otherwise pretty solid.

Orienteering 15:00 [3]
shoes: orienteering shoes

Part of the model event, in the pouring rain! Went pretty slowly, looking at the vegetation, and just got a few controls.

Note
(rest day)

No training (cramming for finals) :-/. It is really nice outside, though. I'd like to run.

Run 42:56 [3] 5.12 mi (8:23 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Trance

I got up early enough to run before it gets really hot.

Ran through Battle Park to Bolin Creek and along the bikepath there. The roses are all blooming in the garden near the start of the bikepath.

Note

I'll probably have to take tomorrow off of training because of final exams on Thursday...and Thursday off for taking finals and then traveling. But I'm excited for the weekend!
