Orienteering race (Long) 1:28:41 [5] **** 13.3 km (6:40 / km) +235m 6:08 / km
ahr:181 max:195 spiked:22/30c shoes: Inov8 RocLite 305 v.blue

Nationals Long at Telephone Track. Got really pissed off going to the first control, was not happy about the course and knew I was going to be loosing time on just about every leg with the way it was planned, I was expecting/wanting a lot more tight orienteering, but in all fairness you get that sometimes. Lost 3 mins over first 6 controls through running speed and being direct/scrappy on the first couple (wanting to see something to use) Matt caught me, he helped in places, ran away from me a few times only to catch him up again mainly in the few tricky ones, he did help me get my a into g through the last ones after I had caught him again at 22/23 and was in the ready to slowly die box, and then I could navigate which took the thinking away from the pain.
Probably not a too bad of result considering where I was 3 -6 months ago, but still not happy, plenty more to do and come.

ahr:185 max:199 spiked:11/16c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 340

Nationals Middle. Was a bit tough in places, made a couple of small errors, slightly left on 3 (not as bad as Brent) and a bit on 5 and 8, then12 and 13 really confused me, the angles seemed all wrong. Pretty stuffed at the end

Orienteering race (Sprint) 14:39 [5] *** 2.5 km (5:52 / km) +20m 5:38 / km
ahr:192 max:199 spiked:13/14c shoes: Nike Air Zoom Triax+11

National Sprint. Thought I ran a lot better than where I ended up (If I could have ran like that at Oceania I would have been top 5), so there were some bloody quick guys today. Looks tricky at first but I never felt like it was, the scale made it easy to read and there were obvious feature right before or at controls, turning it into more of a runners course than it looks, but still had to not blow it completely. Did get confused at 7, thought I was on the top track and was looking right trying to figure it out when the control was 10 meters smack in front of me. Though I picked most of the routes, need to look at others and see if it was a bit of lack of speed and/or routes as well. Won the finish split.

Generally felt pretty good, legs included, although I could feel I was not at the fastest I could be, (due to not doing much speed work yet) pretty pleased, hopefully the legs aren't broken in the morning.

Running warm up/down 8:00 [3] 1.3 km (6:09 / km) +20m 5:43 / km
