Auckland Mt Bike Club Spring Series Race 2 at Gardens. Started at the cabin and then up to the top for 3 loops around there, was fairly tough course with a few sharp pinches in it. Was free for all across the paddock as you could follow the tapes or go your own way, I was first through the gate by about 20m, due to going straight line, then held the lead all the way to the lap/finish line, 3 guys went past on the road, then I went past them again going up the next hill and held the lead again until the end of ANZAC track, I've come to the conclusion that sport grade is for those that can ride a bike fairly well, but cant go uphill, all this time I was wanting to try and settle down so I would last the course but couldn't help myself. From there I started dying, and every time it came to a part I wanted to go hard on some muppet was right in front. Had a spectacular crash going into the hairpin on the native gully bypass, going quite fast, was cut up big time and hit a bump at the wrong time, on the wrong angle under wrong braking and went flying over the handle bars superman fashion, with the bike flying after me and landing on my head, the guy behind didn't appreciate it nearly as much as Neil would of. BJ past me going up to the clearing on the 2nd lap, and I really started hurting after that, stopped for a min at the water tank to have a leppin (couldn't get it out biking) and on the last lap I was almost going backwards. Fairly stuffed at the end, the tanks still not quite full after being sick.
