9:41 a.m.. Waitarere.
Course: Long 8.8 km http://www.gregjflynn.byethost17.com/maps/show_map...

1 and 3 = fuck. 5 every bump is the same height why is this one mapped? 14 completely lost concentration after I realised I missed the water on the road between 12 and 13 and I desperately need it (again how fucken hard is it to put water at controls, for fuck sake) Martin caught me at 15, again at 16 and again at 20, almost held on to him for 2 whole legs to 22, that killed me on the finish leg. Another bad day at the office.

10:12 a.m.. Waitarere.

Warm up to the start, bit later than I thought (due to the Tony factor) and was a bit harder in the hot open than I wanted. Pretty pissed when I got to the start and there was no water, it was a gravel road the entire way how fucken hard is it

Orienteering race 45:11 intensity: (8 @1) + (6 @2) + (2:09 @3) + (8:49 @4) + (33:59 @5) **** 6.74 km (6:42 / km) +23m 6:36 / km

Course: Middle 5.2 km http://www.gregjflynn.byethost17.com/maps/show_map...

Didn't quite pick the way I wanted through to 1, not too bad but. 2 ok, 3 lost a bit of concentration and I really need to do something about my compass work, half way along I realised I was drifting right, orienteered into the control alright but couldn't see the flag, and started to doubt myself due to the drift, had a quick search from a high point then bailed to the track, back in to the same spot I just was, had another quick search close by, then back into the same hole to fall over the control FUCK. Started to struggle a bit with motivation after that (and the fact it was so hot and I was slightly hungover). Went straight past 8 as I was expecting it to be near the top of the ridge not way down in the bottom. Wasn't paying much attention after that, which probably helped me not notice the apparent crap mapping for the second half of the course. Ground was super soft and heavy and just sucked any life I had in my legs right out of them. Again disappointed with my effort.

6:38 p.m.. Palmerston North.
Course: Sprint 2.9 km 50 m http://www.gregjflynn.byethost17.com/maps/show_map...

Bloody hot day, wasn't quite in the right frame of mind either i dont think. Still feeling like I have about as much speed as a dead snail, but it did take Martin until 5 to catch me (when I was standing where I think everyone expected the control to be). Got confused going through to 2, not sure about bashing through the green on 6 (it should be a darker shade) and 13 might be ify, some say right is better, I'm not sure.

Running 10:00 intensity: (7:02 @1) + (2:58 @2) 0.6 km (16:40 / km)
ahr:125 max:146 shoes: Nike Lunar Glide

7:05 p.m.. Palmerston North.

Legs bit sore, attempted to cool down, think it might have actually helped the massive rocks in my calves a bit

7:19 p.m.. Woodhill.

Went out to Woodhill for some training, got Claire to put some controls out for me, but she put them in the wrong place then got distracted so I got rid of her, and I walked back along the beach with the future Mrs Claire Flynn

Note

Legs feeling ok...... only ever so slightly sore to walk, couple of spots in calves, achilles were tight in the morning but not too bad now, quads still the worst but no where near as bad as yesterday before and after racing, maybe I should be a 5km time trial today?????

Mt Biking 31:01 intensity: (8:35 @1) + (11:11 @2) + (10:47 @3) + (28 @4) 8.47 km (16.4 kph) +118m

7:45 p.m.. Riverhead. Went for a quick AR ride to get some blood through the legs, pretty tired up the hills but just chucked it in an easy gear and spun.

Feeling good mentally, thats right peeps I think I found my mojo again
