Note

Baby Martin was born last Monday, 7:33am at 6lbs 5oz. He's spent his time since then in the NICU for respiratory distress syndrome, but we hope he'll come home in just a few more days!

A bit more:

This time (9:30 pm), last week, I was induced at 37 weeks because I ha preeclampsia (never severe, but high blood pressure and not good kidney function). Labor was fast for an early induction and I slept through most of it. But then when things started getting real, had to call Tom to hurry on in - he made it with about 30 min to spare after dropping S off at a friend's house! (Used nitrous oxide again for pain - do like that approach.)

Martin didn't breathe well from the beginning and while he initially did come upstairs with us to the recovery zone, the pediatrician up there sent him straight to the NICU after she checked him out. He has been on supplemental oxygen and a CPAP macine since then, although he successfully came off both for a while when Tom was thee this afternoon, so hopefully he's turning the corner and he'll come home soon!

For me, this birth was super-easy on my body, compared to Sylvia's. My pelvis didn't separate at the front and I don't have any diastisis pain. Given everything else going on, I'm very grateful my recovery is going so well.
