Rollerskiing 23:02 [1] 3.02 mi (7:38 / mi)

Neighborhood rxc, felt a little more comfy/stable than last time.

Cycling 1:01:57 [1] 13.58 mi (4:34 / mi) +180m 4:23 / mi

Another totally gorgeous fall day here, so back out on the bike! Did the Sellwood bridge-Tillikum Crossing loop, which was just great. Have to go slowish on the W side of the river because bikes constrained to <10mph, but it's worth it for the river+city views!

Strength 10:00 [1] 0.09 mi (1:50:59 / mi)

Mt. Tabor XC Oregon Fall PDX training

I went mostly for some hope of just being social around other cross-country skiers, but it's oh so hard behind a mask and 6+ feet away. So didn't really meet anyone or even see anyone I did know. =( Ah well. Made me do some ski-specific strength and walk/bounding I wouldn't have done otherwise.

Hiking 28:15 [2] 1.22 mi (23:10 / mi) +56m 20:15 / mi

Mostly ski-walking, a little light bounding at the end. Great to do, this is a good workout and something I can still do even if running isn't comfy.

Got one good tip - look *up* the trail. Always been a weak spot for me. So many things I could have commented on about other's technique - there was only one coach for about 30 people, but not my place...

Rollerskiing 20:37 [1] 2.53 mi (8:09 / mi)

Yeah! Got out rollerskiing! Put on the new wheels and good to go. Pelvis seems ok with the skate motion, at least for now - happy about that!

Cycling 1:11:18 [2] 13.07 mi (5:27 / mi) +402m 4:59 / mi

A gorgeous afternoon and we won't have many left, so took off from work on the early side and did two repeats of the big cemetery hill. Awesome! The cemetery has some really good views and beautiful trees.

Hiking 21:44 [1] 1.42 mi (15:18 / mi)

Walk into work as I'd left my bike there the night before (need to remember bike lights now!)

So I guess it's only 1.42 mi door-to-door!

Monday Oct 19, 2020 #

Note

Ordered new rxc wheels. Old ones had a complete failure (back wheels in v. poor condition, one sheared off axle). Hopeful that I'll be able to rxc and then hopefully ski until fairly late in this pregnancy! Midwife's ok with it on the condition that I don't fall.
3 PM

Hiking 25:02 [1] 1.25 mi (20:01 / mi) +13m 19:25 / mi

Walk around the canyon.

Cycling 53:13 [1] 12.48 mi (4:16 / mi) +166m 4:06 / mi

Whee!! I may be a super-slowpoke running right now, but biking is still fun! Really great to get out there for a ride. Just did the Springwater bike trail in towards downtown, but it's a great stretch for not being interrupted much by needing to stop.

Note

DR opened up above belly button so taping with kinesio tape... seems to have helped...

Running 27:12 [1] 2.14 mi (12:43 / mi) +45m 11:55 / mi

Super-slow and still hurt pelvic joints afterwards. Think I'm going to call it quite on running at least until I can find the hip support belt that must be hiding in my house somewhere!!

Note

Pumpkin patch day!

Acquired apple cider donuts, one big pumpkin and three small white ones that Sylvia plans to paint. Also a gallon of cider. Was kinda in the pouring rain so we didn't stay too long - Sylvia's rain boots from last year also don't fit, gotta get some new ones!

Orienteering 1:25:10 [2] 6.18 km (13:47 / km) +285m 11:12 / km

CROC meet at Catherine Creek!

Hiked around, pretty directly (went 6.2k for a 5.6k course). Loved being out there, it's so wonderful with great views of the gorge, fun terrain!

Sylvia and Tom did 3 controls on yellow. It was rocky for little feet.

Hiking 18:26 [1] 1.23 mi (14:59 / mi)

Loop around the canyon. So nice to get out and the canyon is beautiful. I'll probably do way more canyon hikes in the next few months.

Only saw four people I think, very low traffic for a nice day. Think it means a lot of the normal traffic is folks not associated with Reed, who currently aren't allowed on campus.

Running 24:02 [1] 2.35 mi (10:14 / mi) +49m 9:36 / mi

Neighborhood run. A bit faster than yesterday, but that ended up hurting the pubic symphisis joint I separated during S's birth, so that's no good... Gotta start wearing the pelvic support belt, I suppose.

Running 20:38 [1] 1.8 mi (11:28 / mi) +47m 10:36 / mi

Run around the neighborhood, right before seminar again.

Note

Woke up at 3am and did some work b/c very awake and found out there is a new woman physics Nobel laureate! Day made at early o'clock!

Andrea Ghez - leader of one of the two teams who established the presence of a super-massive black hole in the center of our very own Milky Way galaxy.

Running 23:43 [1] 2.04 mi (11:38 / mi) +30m 11:07 / mi

A final beach joggeroo after our morning outing to the beach at Fogarty Creek State Rec area.

Running 34:08 [1] 2.8 mi (12:11 / mi) +29m 11:48 / mi

Lincoln City beach weekend!

An escape I booked in the terrible-air days. We had a tiny condo with beach and ocean views and an easy 1/4 mile walk to the beach. Sylvia loved playing in the sand - we had three different beach play outings.

This was a slow-pokey beach jog I did after beach outing #1.
2 PM

Hiking 1:00:00 [1] 3.25 mi (18:28 / mi)

Drift Creek Falls hike

Very cool suspension bridge to a waterfall in the middle of the coast range.

Really took us 2.5h, according to Strava, but that's with all breaks. Workout time of 1h more appropriate. And as I carried S uphill the final mile on my shoulders, definitely counts as a workout! She was hankering for a nap after all the morning + afternoon activity, so conked out pronto in the car for the return trip.
