XC skiing (classic) 1:05:00 [2]

At Trapps, for the first time this season.

After hanging out with Caroline along Sugar Road for awhile, ended up skiing up to the cabin and around on the Haul Road with Stephen. The snow down low was wet and icing, hard to get kick, but was absolutely gorgeous on the approach to the cabin, had some fantastic skiing, focusing on getting my weight forward. So much fun!

The way down was also a blast. Stephen did a good job with it for sure. The Chute bypass is possibly even more fun than the chute itself- still steep, but now with corners in it. Awesome.

XC skiing (skating) 1:32:00 [2]

After consuming an enormous quantity of food for lunch, back out for an afternoon skate ski! Worked with Stephen on technique for a bit more- looks much better than yesterday morning, less running, more skiing, cool to see!

Then skied the Oslo and Bobcat trails a few times over (hilly- hard work!), then around the top of the mountain on Hare Line then down the new 40 years trail, which was good fun, a bit rougher than the other trails. Then headed towards the lodge and skied the new 5k race loop- that's a crazy start on the banked thing at the bottom of the meadow! Will be a blast to race it in a few weeks! Tired by the end for sure.

XC skiing (classic) 1:00:30 intensity: (48:00 @1) + (12:30 @5)

Skiing at Ole's.

Skied an airport loop with Caroline, working a bit on timing, getting force out of the poles, chatting. =) Was so warm- we needed to de-layer after just that first lap. Then worked a bit with Stephen, some no-poles drills to focus on glide, and start to work on weight forward.

Then skied by myself for a bit, doing hill repeats on the 'repeat hill' out on the meadow on 5. Gorgeous day, snow cover was slightly iffy, but still just an amazing day to be out there skiing!

XC skiing (skating) 1:45:00 [1]

After a nice lunch of Ole's vege chilli and pumpkin bread (and running into Paul Stone, dad of Phoebe Stone who was at SPS with me), back out there for skiing! Went over to rock 'n rollin for two loops, then did the race loop x 3, once backwards. Finished with an airport loop with polo field and the usually icy meadow. 25 minutes without poles, legs a'burnin!

XC skiing warm up/down (skate) 25:00 [1]

Skiing at Northfield- helping out with the sprint races there, and sprinting myself! This was some puttering around the meadow before the sprint, and then a bit after it was wrapped up, heading up the mountain for as long as I had time for.

XC skiing race (skate sprint) 3:00 [5]

So the highschoolers had their sprint races- 3 heats each for the girls and boys and then an A and B final for each. Between the heats and finals the coaches + other older folk had our race. I was slow off the line as usual, and behind both Coach Nat and Coach from Deerfield at the end of the double pole zone. Passed coach from Deerfield after maybe 200m, but Nat definitely had me. Think the kids enjoyed watching us race for sure... and they were proud their coach won! =)

Running intervals (indoor track) 17:07 [5]

3 x 1 mile, rest in between

5.38
5.42
5.47

Was aiming all for 5.45, so a bit off on that first one, then slowing down... oops.

Running warm up/down 41:00 [3]

~2 mi warm up and ~2 mi warm down, chatting with Sanjay, Todd, Lee and Brad. Big group today. But they all did a tempo workout of 6mi, while I did my faster stuff. Still makes a difference having company there, even if different workout. Think next week we'll all do miles. Should be tough.
