XC skiing 57:45 [2] 6.82 mi (8:28 / mi) +85m 8:09 / mi

So yes, this *might* have been overdoing it. But the conditions were great and fast for some skate skiing all over SE Portland! Met up with Suzy and headed to the golf course. Never been on it before, but no one seemed to mind people skiing on it as lots were.

So much fun. But was a bit sore afterwards.

Saturday Feb 13 #

10 AM

XC skiing 6:44 [1] 0.46 mi (14:39 / mi)

Skiing twice around the block dragging S in her sled for funsies!

XC skiing 47:59 [2] 4.57 mi (10:30 / mi) +59m 10:06 / mi

Ah! Those are the endorphins I've been missing!

Such great skiing directly from our house around the neighborhood! Skied down to Reed, around campus, and back. So awesome! First time on campus since M's birth, hadn't filled out the Health Check beforehand, but think it's ok, didn't come within 6 ft of anyone and was definitely outside the whole time...

So many people out and about enjoying the snow - it's like Oxford that way. Infrequently snows, but when it does, everyone enjoys it to the utmost! Very few cars out and about, which is good, because none of the roads were plowed. At least half that were out had chains on.
2 PM

Hiking 25:00 [1]

The hiking associated with sledding the 42nd Ave. hill. Often was pulling S back up the hill while she was still in the sled, so definitely a workout! On the way home, we witnessed a Bureau of Transportation plow get stuck while trying to turn onto our road - it had chains on both front and back wheels, but still had to back down the hill (through some bendy pipes that demarate the bike lane from the car lane) until it hit bare pavement. Impressive that it couldnt' make any progress - it then drove off and did not plow our road. Fine by me, remains better for skiing!

(Plowing around here just focuses on the interstates while it's actually snowing, so then all the secondary roads don't get plowed and sometimes can't even be plowed later, when the plows are finished with the interstates. So people have to put on chains if they want to drive. Instead, many people just walked to get groceries or whatever today, which is way safer.)

Hiking 6:43 [1] 0.12 mi (56:00 / mi)

Yayayayay snow!!!

Walking around in the snow with S, including around the block with her in a sled. Didn't really capture the distance or time properly, but must have been at least this time.
1 PM

XC skiing 15:00 [1] 0.54 mi (27:47 / mi)

Classic skiing back and forth in front of the house while S played in the snow.
4 PM

XC skiing 16:09 [2] 2.03 mi (7:57 / mi)

Wahoo! Got back out for a skate ski- on my fishscales, but the frozen rain was making it so icy there was no way to classic ski. Snow is very solidly covering the roads, if we get 4-8" more snow tonight, classic should be good again!

Super-psyched that skiing is not painful already 3 weeks after birth. Now working to get a cargo box for our car so we can go skiing more this winter...

Thursday Feb 11 #

10 AM

Hiking 31:02 [1] 1.78 mi (17:26 / mi) +36m 16:24 / mi

Westfork loop stroller walk. Chillier day - snow supposed to come tomorrow!

Wednesday Feb 10 #

2 PM

Hiking 37:58 [1] 2.11 mi (18:00 / mi) +47m 16:50 / mi

Hilly neighborhood walk - did the Errol Heights path, which is ok with a stroller, but not quite wide enough. Over 2 miles! Trying to think about when I might let myself try to run. Figure at least 4 weeks and if I'm totally comfy walking 3 miles might be the first time to try? My body really is recovering so much better than last time...

Tuesday Feb 9 #

1 PM

Hiking 31:27 [1] 1.69 mi (18:36 / mi)

Neighborhood stroller walk on the flats, nearly to Woodstock Blvd. and back. Sunny day!

Monday Feb 8 #

3 PM

Hiking 23:32 [1] 1.19 mi (19:47 / mi) +31m 18:18 / mi

Stroller walk after grading a bunch of labs. Little guy still sleeps lots and lots.

Also had his first check-up since being out of the NICU- he's gained 5 oz in 4 days, which the nurse was happy with!
