100th ski, 1000 miles!!

Backcountry at Nine Mile with Etoile! Small campfire and lunch half way around. Added a fun wetland loop in the middle to get the necessary distance for this winter’s distance goal.

Beauty day! Doesn’t get much better.

99th ski, 997.5 miles

Early ski before the GNOAC Team Sprints and before the snow then rain.

Trails were fast but a little choppy from my ski the day before. Jackrabbit had been groomed and it was so much faster. Wolf still in good shape and super fun with that final downhill.

Mobility 10:00 [3]
(rest day)

Rest day. Didn't get as much rain as was forecast.

Unfortunately the combination of my sore shoulder and my teammate being super sick means my first nordic ski race since high school will have to wait another year. :-(

I woke up early to ski but when I noticed the fresh powder snow outside I decided to work instead and wait to ski in the sunshine later with etoile! And was it ever worth the wait! Mid winter ski conditions on the first full day of spring. 5+ cm of powder on the trails was super beautiful BUT it also hid the two rocks that have been exposed for the last 7-10 days and I forgot about one of them. Hit one with my right ski and it stopped dead, spun me around and I went off the trail into a log and pine tree. I was actually taking a photo of the pretty fresh snow at the time on a downhill so when I hit the rock my phone flew into the air and then landed on and slid under a log. Luckily I saw it go under or may never have found it until the snow melted. Since I had my glove off to take the photo my right hand got all cut up. Like a true skier though I quickly checked my ski for scrapes and yup there is a good foot long scratch down the middle of it. But what I didn't think about was my rotator cuff. It is really sore again. To add insult to injury the snow slowed down big time so I ended up 5km short of my planned ski. But the scenery was fantastic and worth waiting for even if my rotator cuff and more importantly ski are a little bruised and scraped.

started in the dark and ended with the beauty sunrise and all on fresh corduroy skate trails. I had the ski trails to myself in the best conditions for skating in weeks. Kudos to the grooming team

Mobility 15:00 [3]

started out as a strength routine but deferred to the mobility routine (without the pushups, shoulder still way too sore)
