map with route
When I put on my shoes, I realized that my foot was too sore to do any running. So took off my ankle braces and taped my ankles with duct tape. It's been years (20+?) since I have run with tape instead of ankle braces. It didn't feel very secure, so was cautious.
1. Slow as Garmin found satellites, tried to reset clock on the run and fell down hard.
2. Very slow going up.
3. Much hesitation from far out, trying to figure out exactly where I was trying to end up while I could see the layout. Since I ended up going exactly where I initially thought I should, I wasted a lot of time here.
4. Not sure how I headed off in the wrong direction from the rootstock. Pretty quickly knew things weren't right, but took a while to make sense out of it.
5. Very confused leaving the control so decide to take the road route to 5 while I tried to straighten out my mind.
6. Well, I planned to go straight. But I am rarely successful at that. This terrain is so forgiving though. Easy to correct.
7. don't know when I changed my mind about going more or less straight.
On the way into the control intentionally went north of the control to pinpoint my location.
8. Was going to go straight, but my legs were getting torn up so went up to the trail. Would have made more sense to go the other way around the green but knew (from the previous day) that the boundary was far from clear, so played it safe.
9. Just straight at it.
10. Just couldn't bear the thought of a road run. Better execution and I don't think it would have cost me any time. The map at the first road loop really threw me off. A number of vehicles in the parking lot inside the loop. Wouldn't have bothered me except that I was nowhere near where I had planned on being. I seem to have taken a 90 degree turn without realizing it.
11. Just tired. Straight at it.
