UK Cup/WOC Selection Middle.
One of the first off. Started conservatively and spiked 1. Then got excited and didnt navigate well around 2 (map bloody bad here in all honesty), then small miss at 3, before 90 degree error out. So 4 was bollocks. After this I wasnt going too badly, though not aggressively or straight enough, to 5. 6 fine, 7 missed to the right by some with hesitations, and again on 8, too high.
9 fine, 10 hesitant. 11 easy, 12 fine but poss not best route.
Totally fucked 13, stopped a spur too early and thrashed before realising.
Slow to 14, getting composure back. 15 easy, 16 was going right for it but bottled it and climbed above before spotting it. Navigate to the feature fool!
17 was ok, meandering a bit en route mind you. 18 fine, 19 too, 20 good! actually fast! Then dunno what was going through my head at 21, minute lost at least. 22 ok but meandering a bit, same with 23 and then 24....Home

21st, 90secs behind group ahead of me. Lots of scope for improvement b ut the basics are there now I think. Recovered better after mistakes.

Tomorrow should be fun, lot longer and hopefully tougher. Maybe break into the top 20 with an improvement in the circle.

Went out and did last night's Battleaxe event on Claife Heights. Slippy, but not having controls made me concentrate more again.

I went 20,19,17,18,16,13,12,10,5,1,4,3,2,6,7,8,9,11,14,15 and Finish.

Overshot 16 as adjusting to scale and what was/wasnt being mapped. Knobbed 5 by a few minutes. First climbed too quickly and got stuck below big crags , then failed to recognise the platform and thought I was below it and climbed too high. In a race I would prbably hav seen the flag but tough titties, Im supposed to be navigating to the feature.

3 was the only one where I wasnt 100% confident I had the right feature. Odd bit of ground. Map was weird round 2...

Good session, feeling fast without really trying :) Really enjoying the solo O practice

Note

Start times up for the weekend and due to a complete lack of top level O racing for many years, Im near enough first off both days :)

This is very cool with me, means I can attempt to concentrate on myself without worrying about people around me. So......no excuses!

Note
(rest day)

Its Monday, its rest day. Got to sleep at 3am eventually once Id worked out that leaving my legs out from under the duvet was optimum relief from the nettle fire. Christ, Im banning myself from Oing outside of Lakes and Scotland.
