Run - Off road 25:29 [4] 6.17 km (4:08 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

Lunctime run with Keith. The best run with Keith I've ever had. He wasn't there.

My fault, deviating from the prescribed arrangements. We arranged to meet at a playing field next to Blaise but I tried to be clever and thought I'd head him off at Airbus West Gate. Got there a couple of mins late, so assuming I'd missed him I race-paced it to our meeting place.

Got there 4 mins late but he wasn't there so I decided to do some barefoot laps of the field while I waited for him.

Run - Off road (Barefoot) 8:16 [3] 1.59 km (5:12 / km)

Whilst waiting for Keith I removed my shoes and did a few laps of the playing field, trying to avoid the Staffie dressed in what appeared to be leather bondage kit (the dog, not me).

Run - Road 10:45 [3] 2.4 km (4:29 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

And the run home after I'd got bored running in circles.

Turns out Keith was doing laps while waiting for me in the field on the opposite side of the road. He'd better sort his act out before the OMM.

shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

With John Mayer for a hilly Blaise run.

Up to Cranes Gate then picked up the Blazer route all the way to the top. Dropped down the other side, then down through Coombe Dingle, along the Trym, Coombe Dingle sports centre then back up Southfield Rd to Redmaids and home.

Felt quite good. A nice evening, and a nice run.

Run - Off road race (Fowey Regatta 5km) 24:01 [4] 5.95 km (4:02 / km) +116m 3:41 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

This year for the first time there was a 5km 'fun run' as part of the Fowey Royal Regatta week. I had no idea what sort of field to expect, but I had to enter it given that I was finally feeling better and it was billed as 'a multi terrain hilly race with spectacular views'. Shame about the monsoon and low cloud base.

Turns out I was a bit too fast for the rest of the field. Took the lead straight away and on realising no one was giving chase I eased the throttle a little, with only the lead bike in front of me. As we progressed along the route I realised it was probably going to take in some of the paths I'd run earlier in the week. I guessed the guy on the MTB would struggle on a slippery rocky downhill section followed by a matching uphill, so I decided to try to beat the lead bike. I did. Overtook him at the start of the uphill and didn't see him again. Got a little lost in an open field and ended up running further than I needed, but I still finished almost 5 mins ahead of the next guy.

Got me a Cadbury's cereal bar and a t-shirt.

Note
(sick)

Saturday's sickness seemed to go away after a day or so, but then it returned another day later. No sick second time around just bloated unsettled stomach, nausea and gut ache which lasted about 2 days.

shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

In Fowey, Cornwall, for the week. Having recovered from a 24 hour sick bug did my Saints Way, Polkerris, Gribbin Head, Readymoney route. Hot and sunny, and hard work on the hills, but a stunning run.

Note
(sick)

Maya picked up a vomiting bug from cousin Archie the day before our holiday, and of course was sick in the car on the way there. And of couse I caught it straight away. Up vomiting on our first night.

Run - Road ('barefoot' running 0) 37:00 [3] 8.0 km (4:38 / km) +120m 4:18 / km
shoes: inov-8 Road-X lite 150

After the monsoon had cleared and the sun made the world steam I went for a quick trot to Blaise with John Mayer to check out a retaining wall.

Didn't feel as champ-like as I did last week, but it was nice to get out. Calves felt quite sore, possibly after a couple of recent long runs in the new Minimus shoes, so didn't make this any longer than it needed to be.

Team Monday from Quiche's flat. Dr Bown making his comeback, James, Quiche and Nicolas.

A nice paced run along the towpath, garlic valley, Abbot's Poo, and through AC.

shoes: New Balance Minimus MT10RD

In lieu of the parkrun being ballooned off went for a nice long morning run with James, in my new shoes.

Ran to the water tower in the shoes, met James, took shoes off and ran barefoot around the Downs (5km 35mins), then put shoes back on and took James exploring. Bishops Knoll, Old Sneyd Park, Sea Mills, path along Avon, up the Gulley and saw my first 4 goats, then back across the Downs.

Great morning for it, nice long run.

Run - Off road 1:10:40 [3] 16.0 km (4:25 / km) +220m 4:08 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Terrafly 303

Lunchtime run with John Mayer. Felt great. The best I've felt for a long time so I picked up the pace and cruised along like a champ. Loop through Blaise, Kingsweston, Shirehampton, Portway for a few minutes of race pace to Sea Mills, Mariner's Path, Downs and Henleaze.

Bumped into Quiche in Blaise, who clearly wasn't feeling as much of a champ as I was.

Run - Off road 30:00 [3] 5.75 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295

Jogged over to Blaise to make up some training time, then a bit of a warm up with Quiche and Tim, and a warm down jog afterwards with the BOK massive, including 500m or so barefoot with Adam.
7 PM

Run - Off road race (Blaise Blazer) 25:02 [4] 5.8 km (4:19 / km) +160m 3:48 / km
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295

Wasn't totally up for running this after 4 weeks of illness on and off, but went anyway. A great BOK turnout. As it was the club contest tonight I wonder if we'd all entered as BOK we'd have been eligible?

Took it at my own pace without busting a gut and actually quite enjoyed it without the pressure of racing. Finished 4th almost 2 mins down on my usual time.

Well done Adam for coming 2nd to Felix in his first Blazer.

Run - Road ('Barefoot' running 1) 30:00 [3] 6.5 km (4:37 / km)
shoes: inov-8 Road-X lite 155

After an exciting Toddler Sensory session in Westbury Park I took Maya for a buggy run in between showers.

From Downs Park West did a figure of eight around the Downs.

Pretty much over this cold now. Still spending the first hour of the morning hacking up caramel colour phlegm, but I'm feeling just about over it.

Run - Road ('Barefoot' running 1) 24:00 [3] 5.0 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: inov-8 Road-X lite 155

Trot up to the Downs to meet Piers, and the trot back home later.
12 PM

Run - Off road (Barefoot running) 35:00 [2] 6.3 km (5:33 / km)

Met Piers at the water tower for a proper barefoot run on the Downs. Piers was getting over an ankle injury and wanted to concentrate on his running form so wanted to do some on flat pavement. Prob about 50-50 grass and pavement. Put shoes in rucksack.

Felt great. Felt like I could have gone on for hours. Grass was nice and wet and cool on the feet, and the tarmac was nice and smooth with the bonus of being able see what I was putting my feet on.

Did a loop of the Downs before dropping Piers at Pembroke Rd, then straight across the grass to St Monica's before putting my shoes back on for the trot home.

Felt a lot better than I did running on Monday.
