Went to the Docs again on Xmas eve for a midlife health check to try to find why I'm ill so often these days. Turns out I am completely deficient in vitamin D, which in the early stages causes tiredness and susceptibily to illness, compounded by having 2 kids at nursery offering me bountiful selections of viruses each week.

Need sunshine and oily fish, and lots of rest if I am to have any hope of surviving.

I might as well have written-off the rest of this year at the beginning of December.

Happy Christmas.

Note

So the tonsillitis has pretty much gone but I am now left with sinusitis giving me chills, fever, constant headache from exploding sinuses and general lethargy.

Still not fully well, but desperate to get out for more than a walk so opted for a ride rather than run. Over to Leigh Woods to ride the Yer Tiz trail. Been ages since I last rode this so I missed the first red section and the orange skills bit. Quite wet and slippery but lots of fun. I say this every time I mtb but I really should do this more often.

Laura went night-Oing in the WNL at Crickly Hill so I took Maya and Raffy around some of the controls for an hour in the rain. Amazingly Maya loved it!

And on to the next round of illness. This time bacterial tonsillitis coupled with the latest virus from nursery giving me conjunctivitis, fever, catarrh, and loss of apetite. Joy.

Back to Team Monday. This week from James and Matt's pad. Fancied a long one tonight so ran there and back. A nice nostalgic run taking in some of our old runs from back in the day.

With James, Matt, Marcus and Mark. Over the Downs, Hollybush Lane, Coombe Dingle, bottom end of Blaise, Trym down to Sea Mills, river path, up Goat Gulley, around the bottom end and back to Blackboy Hill.

Conscious that the Goat Gully was likely to be a Strava segment I gave it some beans to lay down a time. James came with me. Stopped at the top gate, went through and waited for the others. Either we stopped too soon for the segment or the GPS went a bit awry cos my segment time was woeful, although I'm not sure Duncan's CR is humanly possible.
