Note

Thought I'd just sum up the last two weeks of races a bit. to be honest somthing has gone really wrong in the last 4-5 weeks and i have really struggled to feel up for any kind of training, but have been in denial and just telling myself im taking an easy week or resting for races when really i just havent been well enough to train. When i have trained ive been getting really dizzy a lot and getting headaches and stuff despite trying to eat healthily and drink lots of water. Am going to go to the doctors to get a blood test to see if im maybe a bit anaemic as somthing has definatly changed for the worse recently. Its a shame this happened just at the wrong time as I've pretty much blown any chance of getting selected for anything this summer and have wasted all the hard work of the winter. Just need to think positive and build myself back up and find some new targets for the rest of the year.

easy run in the park. Felt a bit better so decided to get out and loosen up the legs. Got a last minute entry for the sprint/middle w/e so will have another chance to salvage somthing from the season which is good. Supra Spikes arrived today, and man I cant wait to try them out.

Orienteering 24:12 [4] *** 4.9 km (4:56 / km)
spiked:17/17c shoes: Nike Zoom Miler XC

Had been feeling really bad and with a MP, DNF and a DNS coming into the race wasnt too enthusiastic. Spent all day yesterday resting in bed but still felt terrible and really faint and lacking in energy.

Rosco had a great run on first leg to send me off not too far down and well in the race. On the way to No.1 decided to take it steady as Treb came hammering past me to the kite. I then spiked no1 and so got back ahead, over the dunes towards 3 I could see EUOC 1 and 2 Spongey and Huw about 100m ahead. Had the same gaffle as Huw and caught him at 4, and didnt see Sponge again but turns out I passed him somewhere as he had another gaffle. Caught sight of Neil northrop of SYO 1 who started one minute ahead, and I nearly caught him, and was caught by Rob Baker of the other SYO team, they were running too fast for me as I was already struggling physically and feeling really sick, but because I was cleaner in the circles I was gaining ground on them. They caught james Taylor up near the end and had the race to finish 2,3 and 4, but I was really in pain by this point so focussed on just getting cleanly round the final few controls and finished about 20s down on them but with the 4th best time on the leg, despite forgetting to punch the finish for ages and so having a run in split 20s slower than my real time.

Really pleased as I pulled us up from 9th to 5th, and had I had a bit better shape i couldve been in the race to finish 2nd on the leg. Technically was absolutly perfect, like to the point where i couldnt find a single second to improve from my run, just a shame my physical shape has kinda fallen apart. At least ive shown what I can do when I get the technical part right, now I just need to get the physical side right and we'll see just what I can do.

Note
(rest day)

Didnt have the energy to get out of bed despite a 14 hour sleep. Eventually went out for a wee walk on Dartmoor which was nice.

JK Middle

Was running really hard and just not going anywhere, technically was fine but just felt weak and couldnt run at all, so just did the first loop then packed it in and jogged back to the finish.

Event: JK 2010

2 PM

Orienteering 17:22 [5] 3.3 km (5:16 / km)
spiked:24/25c shoes: Saucony Kilkenny XC2

JK Sprint Legs were dead and had absolutly no power at all, as ive been feeling a bit ill. Caught Declan Grey, SARUM, who got a gap again to 8 when he decided to just cross all the uncrossable fences. Made no mistakes which is good, as I was planning ahead well. Oh and I punched the wrong last control but it didnt make a difference as I was already pretty shocking.

I would have finished 7th in M20E if I had finished as I was 1s ahead of Ralph but he beasted the last two legs and would have beaten me anyway. It would be interesting to see where me back in Jan/early Feb shape would have finished, it would have been a hell of a lot closer to the top though.

easy jog in the park after getting home. Back is well tight, which I expected as I could feel it during the s+c yesterday. Was able to run ok, jist had to be very upright and cant bend my back at all.
