orienteering 2:04:00 [3] 6.8 km (18:14 / km)

DVOA event at FCE. Got to the start intending to do Green but they were out of Green maps and drawing them so I decided to do Red. Aimed for 2 hours and started off at a trot. After about 200 meters in the heat and humidity decided walking was just fine.

So hiked around the course. It was an interesting course and I had fun. Unfortunately, the vegetation has changed considerably and there is now tons of blackberry and other things with prickers; stilt grass and ferns hiding logs, rocks and holes; and some other things that make you think you should be in a swamp by the look of it and grows over my head. That together with the recent fire damage and normal rocky craziness at FC made for some tough going.

But, I just kept plodding along and had a great time. Got a little off course on a couple of controls trying to avoid pushing through really thick stuff and had to stop and think about it and then correct so could have maybe saved 10 minutes total so two hour was totally doable.

A good workout.
