orienteering race 1:14:18 [3]

Green Course. Made a big mistake on number one - looked up a reentrant that I thought was mine, didn't see the flag and so kept going trying to figure out where I had messed up only to return and find the control in the very same reentrant. Not a good start. Other than that, thhe course went well although I was less than precise in many places. I didn't run much of the course - I just couldn't find any rythmn to do much more than walk.

Note

Wonderful dinner with Pete and Lex and various others; would have been even nicer if we could have stayed longer.

Note

Trail-O in Tucson. Enjoyed it. Made some mistakes that were easily avoidable. Need to learn to take my time and really focus; not just get impatient and move on.

strength & stretching 25:00 [1]

An abbreviated core workout. (Didn't get started until 10:50...)

running 1:06:18 [3]

TNT - woohoo, went for a run on the drive. First time in several months. Managed to do 4 miles without stopping in 43:33 so just a tad under 11 minute pace. I guess that pretty much says where I am these days. On the one hand I'm thrilled I've gotten this far - a month or so ago I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do this much. But it's also pretty depressing to realize just how slow I am.

Lost another pound.

trail 34:40 [3]

Trail loop in the Wissahickon; longer than the one I've done recently but still all on this side of the creek.

strength & stretching 10:00 [1]

Note

A really funny noise in my lungs while running. I was breathing pretty hard - it was near the end and after a good uphill section so I obviously was laboring - but I've never heard this particular sound before. It was sort of a gurgling or squeaking, very hard to describe. At first I thought I was wheezing and getting ready to have an asthma attack but there was no constriction, just this funny noise. I slowed way down and it went away and I didn't hear it again even when I finished with the uphill to my house. Very odd.
