orienteering race 1:12:15 [3]

Brown course. Had some good legs and some very, very bad legs. Realized with a start in the middle of a longish leg that I was totally thinking about a work issue and had no idea if I had been staying on my bearing or how far I'd gone. Not good. But, other legs were fun and I enjoyed being out. Knee pretty bad though so no running.

A brisk hike of the meadow loop with Sandy. We didn't have enough resolve to run but we did hike faster than usual - at least it felt that way.

Water Gap; Egypt Mills map

Very nice brown course. Only error was out of #1. I looked at the map and said go west to the trail. After a while I realized I had gone plenty far and no trail to be found, looked at the map again and realized I had misread the symbol. There was a north-south trail all right, but the trail turned east north of control #1 and a stone wall extended south from that bend. So due west was a stone wall and I had passed that a while ago. So I did a big hook around to the right to get to the trail and then was fine. Other than that, had a few hesitations as I let the vegetation push me a bit in a few places but don't think it cost me too much.
