strength & stretching 45:00 [3]

Session with Kelly.

Overwhelmed with things at work and for our A event. This is all the exercise I am getting these days but at least I've been consistent about getting to these sessions and working hard in them.

More success this week! Things I did today that I haven't been able to do before:
full pushups: 10, 5, 3, 2 They were hard but I did them so I'm happy.
reverse lunges: actually bent the knee after putting it behind me instead of just stretching it out straight and bending the front knee. This is really hard for me but I managed 4 sets of 10 reps each leg. I had to go slowly to be very deliberate about bending the knee, but I was stunned I could do it at all.

Knee update: a little sore Friday evening and Saturday but nothing major.

map hiking 20:00 [3]

Control pickup for the Ridley event so I could have the equipment to start prepping it for the A event. I got a bunch of controls by driving and hopping out of the car - the lazy method of control pickup.

hiking 57:20 [3] 2.91 mi (19:42 / mi) +88m 18:01 / mi

Well, well. That was interesting. I've got a lot on my mind what with school things and the DVOA A event and I wanted to squeeze in a hike this morning before some other tasks that need doing and I got about 10 minutes into the hike and realized I had not put on my knee brace. What to do? I decided that my knee was not hurting and perhaps I could make it around the meadow loop without it. So I continued. And I finished. And it never bothered me. The true test of course will be whether it swells up later today or not. And if it doesn't, then I will start seeing what else I can do without it. I am stunned. The last time I tried it things did not go as well. I am thinking the personal training sessions are money well spent!

Oh, and a dog - on a leash - lunged at me and snapped and growled and was only an inch or so away from me. I yelped loudly and jumped sideways and the owner did nothing. Grrr...
