Note
(injured)

I went over on my ankle at some point in the race and it hurt at the time but not enough to make me stop. However when I got home and took my shoe off, after about half an hour I found I couldn't put any weight on my left foot. Thankfully after a few hours, ice, elevation and chocolate I can walk on it again, carefully.

Orienteering race 42:49 [5] 5.4 km (7:56 / km)
shoes: Jalas

British Relays.

Not the finest display of navigational skills. It didn't even start well. The Mens Short relay started just as I was about 30m in front of them and I subsequently got caught up in a stampede of adrenalin fueled nutters sprinting past me. This was followed by lots of scrappy navigation and errors, thankfully my legs were still workng after yesterday which was my main worry.
A great course and mind boggling navigation at times.

Orienteering race 1:59:13 [5] 14.3 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Integrators

British Champs - Elite

I had three aims before this race.
1. To be under 2 hours.
2. To be in the top 30.
3. To be within 30 mins of the winner.
I got the first 2 but not the last.
I was fairly happy with this race, albeit knackered at the end and knowing I'd been scrappy. I have now had a look again at my map and realised I made loads of mistakes amounting to over 12 mins. None more than 3 mins though.
Unfortunately this meant I never really got into a confident flow.
Anyway I beat Alex Rothman by 1 sec, which is what it is all about really!

Orienteering 38:46 [3]
shoes: Jalas

From Chase Road Corner.
Taking this one fairly easy and working on navigation. Managed to get them all ok, except one control where the map was questionnable. Found this hard going and not sure how long the course was, but it felt longer!
Think I may take a picknic with me for the British at the weekend, lack of training and especially long runs (of which there have been none) will make it a long hard slog. Still the health warning about undergrowth from the organisers that we got made me thankful I am not first out in the forrest, albeit not far off. I hope those starting in front of me have size 13 feet and trample it all down before I get there (that includes the hills as well - a bit of flattening of those wouldn't go a miss).
