Orienteering (Sprint Series) 19:55 [3] 4.26 km (4:41 / km)
shoes: DS Racer

Felt pretty good tonight for the first time in a long time. From comparing splits with Tracy & Eoin I am still way slower (which is to be expected) but was hanging in OK at the end. Pretty well a running race & Eoin beat me on every leg (just).

Orienteering 59:35 [3] 10.35 km (5:45 / km) +200m 5:15 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Central Coast Summer Series at Killcare. Another scenic and hilly area (10m contours!). Left out one control (17); maybe should have gotten it as I got beaten by a few people with perfect scores. Would have been back late though...

Run 1:50:00 [3] 16.0 km (6:53 / km) +270m 6:20 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Long run with Tracy and Anthea - Lane Cover River loop from Tracy's across bridge to Buffalo Ck, along west bank, Fig Tree Bridge and back via the parks/bushland as much as possible. Cut straight up Mowbray Rd at the end as running short of time by then.

Run intervals 56:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:13 / km) +120m 5:50 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

4 x 1km in Lane Cove NP, along the Riverside path, approx 3 min rests.
4:20
4:24
4:46
4:35

I was surprised and pleased by the first 2 but came crashing back to reality pretty quickly. Blew up very badly in the 3rd. Had a long rest and stretch before the 4th and just ran that one solid to finish what I had started.

The path turned out to be pretty good for intervals, mis-timed the first and had to run up a few steps at the end. Started the second quite soon after the rocks but could have waited until further along without running into trouble. Had a few stumbles on the 3rd (return route of 2nd), that path seemed more technical coming back down.

Orienteering (Summer Series) 47:20 [3] 7.5 km (6:19 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Yet another sub-standard summer series effort.

I didn't feel too bad today but made lots of mistakes and lost lots of time looking for controls that lead to further mistakes made under pressure.

Lost time at 16 and then 5, took wrong track to 29 (corrected by going across the bush rather than through 9 which I was probably only metres from) then abandoned plans for 9-27-maybe 10 to take on 10 (madness!)-27 then 9. Lost a bit of time at 6 (control hunting) then decided to bush bash to 4. After a failed 2 minutes in lantana backtracked and abandoned that control altogether. Now I was under real time pressure - 30 minutes in, at the far end of the map and only 4.5km covered so far. Tried to belt out the rest of the course, a bit tricky getting tacks right near 28, slog up to 15 and 21 but all others fine. At 30 had intended to get 11 but that might have been a hike up a cliff (similar to 10) so abandoned that and went to 3. Probably should have just gone direct to finish as I was trying to get back under 47 and only just missed (slowed up once I knew I wouldn't make it). So not too bad on the return journey.

First 30 min = 4.5km = 280 points
Next 17 min = 3.0km = 210 points...
