Orienteering (Sprint Series) 18:12 [3] 3.6 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: DS Racer

Sprint at Macquarie Boys' High. Glad I battled the traffic and went as this was one of the best ones of the series (surprisingly!). Thought I was sloppy on quite a few but comparing splits with Mark (oops sorry stole your splits) there were just a few. 17 seconds on #3 (hadn't looked at control descriptions and ran past it), 20 seconds on #14 (hadn't planned well enough ahead and went straight to 15). Some extra time lost on 9 and 16 (both uphill legs) so need to work on hills...

Legs felt slow and heavy and breathing congested again.

Two Creeks in new shoes! Did this run for the first time in ages and it is as good as ever. Pretty tired by the end but that was because I had to run all the way up all the hills with Eoin checking on me.

New shoes were on the doorstep this morning so I was excited about that but now I have a blister. They are quite different from the previous model. First time I have ever gotten a blister from running shoes.

Walked with Paula to give my legs a bit of a break, still waiting for new shoes.... Nice to catch up as she has been sick and a lovely morning in the park.

Orienteering (Summer Series) 44:40 [3] 8.8 km (5:05 / km) +70m 4:53 / km

At Olympic Park. It looked like it might be a bit simple after the Showground forced a course redesign on Tuesday night - poor setter! But, in the end I really enjoyed this run and was trying to work out efficient ways between controls the whole way. I had to push myself all the way and was never really sure which ones to get and which to leave. I probably should have gotten a couple more, only just got back in time but points/min may have made being late worthwhile. I probably started a bit fast and fell in a hole at about 20 min. Recovered but was always on edge to the finish and only just made it.

Decided to wear the light shoes tonight as I think my normal runners are pretty dead, my legs are suffering from Sunday's pram efforts and running on roads in my orienteering shoes on Monday. I am desperately waiting for my new shoes to arrive. Feet very sore on Thursday morning as a result, but legs not too bad.

Lots of hamstring stretching today. I paid for it on Wednesday, but hopefully it will do me good in the long run.

I am really liking the fact that we seem to do different things each week.
