Orienteering: SOSOL at Dechmont Law. Brown course, 9.8km (eek!)
Lovely day, so I took Jamie across to Livingston for a spot of O. Unfortunately by the time we got there all the Blue course maps had gone, so, Brown it was! It has been a while since I last had to fold the control descriptions over to get them to fit into my holder. Erk. Ken made great use of the area; about 3km too great use for my cr*ppy level of fitness, alas! Made one tired mistake, then another because I was annoyed at myself, then another... maybe 5 minutes of silly mistakes. Goals for next year must be to be iron out the mistakes and get fit enough to run this five minutes faster. With one will come the other, of course! #goals. TRIMP 179.7.

Zwift - NYC. Everything Bagel.
Would have loved to get a good endurance session in today but, in the end, I was glad I had an excuse to call it a day at 75 mins. All the wee undulations and constantly changing gradient make NYC far harder than any of the other Zwift areas - simply can't get into a rhythm and grind away. Great training, quads v tired. Hoping to build up to some decent endurance sessions over winter; I've been struggling to get round long O courses this year without tiring badly. TRIMP 152.4, NP 224W.
It seems that I have won the M45L class in this year's SOL series. Eh? Did anyone else actually run enough races to count?! I've had an awful year this year, barely a single decent run. What is going on?

Shadowing Jamie around the short course at the Stirling Uni Hall-O-we'en night event. Much as I love night-O, it looks like I'll have to be shadowing rather than racing it for a while. Unless the next one is as bad tempered as this outing, in which case Jamie can wait until he has reached the age of majority before doing any more night-O! I adjusted his torch. I tried to adjust his torch whilst he was running. I listened to his grumpy wingeing. I swapped his torch with mine. I listened to now tearful grumpy wingeing. I adjusted his torch. I told him to belt up, take the b!@@dy thing off his head and follow me for the last two controls.
Helpful advice from Louise and Nicola post-event, who wear a buff under their torch to stop it slipping around. Apparently it's a problem for people with hair. A problem that is clearly right over my head. Or not. TRIMP 45,4
