Warm up.

Orienteering 33:47 [5] 6.2 km (5:27 / km)

I was feeling quite a bit improved today and I really wanted to be a part of the team. I imagine if Ralph was running I wouldn't have run today. Still warming up I felt good and on the ascent to number one I slotted in behind Murray and was comfortable. He had a short gaffle round the first loop while Doug and I had slightly longer so he got a gap. Cherry got ahead round the second loop and on the long leg I started struggling physically. I was really pushing just to hang on to Cherry and when Douglas came past I couldn't really react to it. Just pushed hard from there to the finish. Solid and clean which was needed just a shame not to be closer. Dave and Kris completed ShUOC's usual solid relay run and yet another podium. It is a shame EUOC beat us but apparently that's the first time in 3 years in the UKRL.

Easy Run 10:00 [2] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)

Bit of a jog. Felt the worse I have done in a long time at the finish of a race. Tried to tell Kris what was going on with the courses.

Event: JK 2012

Easy Run 20:00 [2] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)

Warm up

Orienteering 16:34 [5] 3.7 km (4:29 / km)
(sick)

So basically I picked up a pretty bad cold earlier this week. With hindsight I was asking for it: spending a lot of time in hospital, training, revising and babysitting for ill children. I thought about not running but decided to chance it. I felt ok in the warm up but as soon as I started racing I knew it was not going to be my day. I had a clean race (apart from no 5) but was going nowhere near fast enough. The one short hill climb in the course was a real struggle. I had a good chat earlier this week with the TASS mentor Keiran who had a good job at telling me that I can't expect to do everything all the time but I was disapointed not to be able to pit my wits against everyone today.

Easy Run 10:00 [2] 1.2 km (8:20 / km)

Disjointed warm down.
