On the plus side, I'm really impressed by my spidey sense going to number 8 which made me realize "Hmm, I should be further up the hill. I should just run north to make sure I don't go off the map..." and probably saved me 20 minutes or so.

Time lost:
(Disclaimer: At this point, I was operating on 4 hours of sleep, I was sick, I was really physically worn out from the previous day, and after about control 4 I just stopped caring. I also did not realize that this was 1:15 and 3m contours until after I finished.)
3-4 I strayed off my bearing, and then when I hit the road, I guess I was sloppy with my compass, I realized I needed to be further south on the spur, I saw another pile of rocks that I thought that I thought were the pile of small rocks at the end of the spur, but realized the contours didn't match up, but still thought I needed to be further north... Then I zoomed out enough to realize I'd seen the other pile of rocks, and went to the control.
5-6 I was a little bit sloppy with my compass when cresting the hill; I meant to go a little left, but not as much as I did.
7-8 I thought I was farther north than I was, and was expecting the 3rd re-entrant to be more distinct, but then after running for a while I was like "hmm, I need to be farther north," and then relocated off a knoll that's hard to see on the map with my QR over it.
10-11 I was dehydrated and just not paying attention. I got into the big re-entrant, lost track of where I was, bailed out, relocated, found it.
11-12 I was confused about which buildings I was seeing.

... man, WHAT the FUCK. I was within 10m of control five 3 times! THREE!!! I don't believe this. Including on my first pass before I decided I'd gone too far. ARRGH.

So, time lost:
3-4 I didn't take the straightline, but I didn't want to re-climb things, so I think my route is still reasonable.
4-5 I don't really know what happened. I was basically there and missed it, I guess. There were a bunch of ditch/gully features all around there and I was confused. I found it when I saw someone else punching.
5-6 I followed someone to the wrong control because I was frustrated and wanted to make up time. <.< >.>
6-7 I went up and sort-of contoured around because I thought I was saving climb; I counted it again and it looks like they're about equal.
7-8 At that point in time, my plan was actually to follow the stream to the junction and then go to the control, which worked, but I just took the long way around.
8-9 I misread the map a little bit.

Note
slept:8.0

I tried to go to bed early again yesterday, but then spent 2 hours falling asleep.

I think my sleeping problems are actually related to being SO FREAKING EXCITED to be going orienteering this weekend. =D

=D

I accidentally slept through my first class, but I figure since I'm usually almost asleep in that lecture anyway, it makes more sense to get that sleep in my bed.
11 PM

Elliptical 30:03 intensity: (5:00 @2) + (25:03 @3)

I was really feeling blah today; I didn't have any energy. =/

Possible causes:
not enough sleep/too much sleep/screwy sleep schedule
no caffeine... I basically had half a can of coke, I usually have more.
late workout (I felt pretty good yesterday when I was working out earlier in the day. OTOH, I've been working out later than this for most of the past few weeks, and I've still been able to push harder and longer than I was today)
physically tired after long-ish workout yesterday (I don't think this is the case, I think it's something mental)

Suggestions?

I'm so excited to be orienteering this weekend. I was also very productive while doing 251 today, so that's good. I probably have 65-80 points, so if I can get that all written up that'll be enough for me to turn in, though it would be good for me to finish at least one homework assignment this semester...
