DVOA Four Mile Circle - Green

Still tired from yesterday, and my back was tight starting out, but somehow this was one of those days where I was just kind of toodling along and somehow managed to finish decently high in the standings and TGL.

Knowing how the vegetation is here (a ton of blueberry and very difficult to wade through) I kept to the trails/roads as much as possible and only cut across when it would be ridiculous not to. At one point I tried to attack 7 from the two green dots on the trail to the SW, made it about ten steps into the chest high blueberry, and went right back to the trail to go around and come in from the top. I also learned from last weekend and taped my shoelaces, which stayed tied the entire time.

I thought for sure that most people would be much faster on this trail-heavy course, but apparently all it took was being pretty clean.

After the meet I drove to the beach and climbed 217 steps in the Barnegat Lighthouse. Good views from the top, but also extremely windy and cold. Not much else appeared to be open in the little beach towns.

Lancaster Race Against Racism

I was not sure how I would feel physically for this, but I actually felt great for most of the race. I walked on the uphills, of which there are one or two small ones and then a big one near the end. Slower than last year, but I was mostly just glad that nothing hurt and I was having fun. And not a twinge to be felt from the crappy leg.

1037/2395 overall
470/1386 F
51/147 F 35-39

Here I can be seen finishing: https://youtu.be/GxXKrPnpT5U?t=1390

manual labor 1:00:00 [1]

Then up to camp for the work day. Really about 4-5 hours of raking heavy, wet leaves, cleaning and organizing a unit, and assembling bunk beds.

The Lancaster Junction rail trail from end to end and back.
My lower back was very tight especially in the first 2 miles. Running a 5K on Saturday should be interesting. Will be trying to get everything stretched out by then and may need a decent walk to warm up. (I was signed up before sciatica starting making threats again.)
