Fencing 55:00 [3]

Not bad at all given that I'd been up since 4:30 that morning. I think they were trying to be nice to us.

Accidentally came to practice early because of a short lab. Spent extra time looking at the weekend's maps. Entertaining!

Walking 2:26:00 [3]

Sunday meet.
Less technical course, better approach, happier feelings overall.

For the porpoises of experimentation and reasonableness practice, I promised myself that I wouldn't run *at all.* In actuality, didn't run at all except for a few times down some those really slippy sloppy hills which are trickier to walk than run. Had very few navigational errors. I was even keeping up with some kid who was running for the first part of the course. Spaced out on the trails a bit and messed up, there, but nothing too dramatic.

I'm capable of good navigation, but it appears that once I start messing up, I don't stop messing up.

Recommended solutionl: Either...
a) figure out how to get back into proper navigation mode after I've figured out that I'm making bad choices
or b) get better at running so that I don't loose my head in the first place

Walking 40:00 [1]

Excersize with unfortunate weights.
Max helped me eat some of the weights, and things got better.
Time is fictional.

Walking 3:00:00 [3]

Saturday meet. Epic fail.
Confusing new terrain, couldn't tell features apart, let frustration convince me to make repeated bad decisions. Had the most trouble in that flattish area in the southeastish side of the map with lots of similar little divots in the terrain.
Started out at a jog, bad coughing on the way to 1, walked most of the rest.

Lovely area, though.

Running 20:00 [3]

Friday local meet. I failed to realize that the meet was in the afternoon, didn't sign up, and just ran the trail course. An introduction to the maps and the terrain, but apparently not a good enough one.

Walking (exporing) 40:00 [3]

Long layovers in Pittsburgh and Elyria

Comparisons: Elyria wins the "less sketchy" competition while Pittsburgh wins the "businesses are open at this hour" competition. Elyria appears to get more trains through the middle of it, so points for that, and a couple extra points for the police cars left in a dentistry office's parking lot. Pittsburgh gets a point and a half for a more interesting street layout.

Catch of the Day: air freshener - "New Car Scent."
