Swedish sprint champs. Final.
The day began with an early morning drive back up to Gävle. I was the first starter in the B-final, and although there was some light rain, the legs were feeling fresh so I was hoping for a good result.
I was quick off the line, and as I headed to the start triangle I quickly decided my route to the first control - right along the road from the start - and so I headed out aggressively... and promptly missed the turn I needed to take and went way off the map. Legs were feeling fine, and the brain wasn't worrying until I had gone a pretty long way. It was hard to make my way back to the map and the control area, but once I finally got to number 1, I was able to settle in and race the rest of the course well. Not quite two minutes lost there.
Bit too far left on 6, and took an unnecessary staircase on the way to 7, and in retrospect could have chosen a slightly better route to 10 as well.
17:30 which put me at 29 out of the 30 in my heat and also behind several of the faster times in the C-final which was run on the same course.
On the whole, very pleased with the weekend. A good baseline for the start of a new season of orienteering and also just a lot of fun being with the club and being part of the action.
