orienteering 47:20 [5] 4.4 mi (10:45 / mi)

Score-o at Mt Tom today, courtesy of Phil Bricker and NEOC. Very well attended.

Ran hard, was mostly clean. Hesitation on 105, small overshoot on 107, tiny parallel error on 114 and a few non-ideal routes other places. Beautiful weather and good people :) nice way to end a short vacation.

Distance by Garmin only.

orienteering 35:00 [4] 5.0 km (7:00 / km)

Not entirely sure on the time or distance here. Took a map of the dog bone score-o night course from earlier this year and went out. This was good because I actually hadn't run the course yet. It was fun and nice to get out in the woods. There is one section of light green that is only light green because no one was stupid enough to go into it to map the fact that it's really a swamp. I was that stupid today :)

Road run 59:00 [2] 6.9 mi (8:33 / mi)

Wanted to do some intervals on the track... I set out to run over to Newton South to use their track... but it was still under construction. So the next track I thought to visit was Downes Field which is adjacent to Jamaica Pond. I got a little lost on the way over though, which is why it took me so long to get there. A really nice feeling run though.

Track 12:30 [5] 2.0 mi (6:15 / mi)

set out to do 800s. because it had taken me so long to get there I cut back to doing only 4. 30 seconds rest between. Felt harder than it should have. I think the Downes field is longer than other tracks :)

Road run 30:00 [2] 3.6 mi (8:20 / mi)

Running home a much more direct way. Needed to be quick so that I could get on to the rest of the planned activities. Namely Bacon and TV hurrah for vacation days!

biking 40:00 [3] 8.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Fixed up my Mtn bike enough to get to and from work today. It'll save my legs so they'll be fresh for some speed later this week. The fixing of the bike was non-trivial as it required a lot of steps. Including the very surprising step of getting everything ready to go and then having the tire explode right near my ear! I guess two things at play there, I think I had a 26 x 1.9 tube inside a 26 x 1.4 tire and also I had done a pretty poor job with my rim tape on that tire. So the tube exploded which also ripped a hole in the tire, and added a layer of frustration to my repairs.

I will be ready for biking in snow though, now. Just need to spend a little more time with the bike. truing the rear wheel a little more and cleaning and oiling everything.

Road run 32:00 [2] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

ah, the early morning bloom is off the rose. I had a really hard time getting up this morning. My body just wanted to sleep for 10 hours I guess :)

running felt great at least.

I'm going to start trying to take the intensity button seriously now when I log. don't know how I'll approach the decisions... commuting is probably a '2' though I push pretty hard in parts.

Road run 1:12:52 [3] 10.0 mi (7:17 / mi)

long(ish) run after work today. Didn't want to overdo it, so I kept it a little bit shorter than last week. Felt amazing though. It really is just running in shorts that feels good. Tights are blah. I was feeling good as I was doing laps of the reservoir and I decided that I wanted to make it an even 10 miles so I ran up past BC and out to Hammond Pond Parkway on the way home... had to add a short loop in the parking lot at the end though to finish it up.

orienteering 28:01 [3] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)

Wanted to start out the week with a cleaner orienteering race than yesterday. Got up early and ran an old course I had set at Hammond Pond. Not sure how long it was straight line, but it was about 3 miles of actual running according to my garmin.

It went very smoothly except in one place where I accidentally navigated to #13 instead of #5. Great to get out in the woods while it was still nice out.

Road run 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

running to work this morning felt awesome. :) good morning so far.

Road run 32:00 [3] 4.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

and home. Feeling sleepy tired but not weary tired. I think perhaps a side effect of wearing contacts all day long when I'm used to my glasses.
