Pt Pinole 25th Anniversary meet. Cloudy and cool. Started at 10:57.

Steve G set the more-or-less the same courses as the initial meet here 25 years ago. I got within two minutes of my time from back then. Made no errors today, but had around 8 mins of error back then. Today elephant trails helped a little, but my SI-Air didn't work and I had to insert the stick in each control (sometimes after trying to swipe over the control).

This was a long hard run. For the last third of the course, had to walk quite a few times. Even earlier, I took a couple of routes that allowed me to go on trails even though they were a bit out of the way, just so running through the forest wouldn't tire me out. Did this on #4 (probably went too far out of the way), #6 (unintentionally drifted left and got close to the trail, so took it for a while), #8 (was nearly my highest ranking split, so this turned out to be a good choice), #10 (probably should have gone straight), and #15.

Only moment of confusion was when I arrived at the second road going to #4: it sure looked like the second road, but I had no memory of crossing the first one, so stood there for several seconds trying to be sure.

Amazingly, my self-timed split today to #1 was identical to my self-timed split 25 years ago (even though, as it turns out, today's Start was a bit further from #1 than at the original event).

Bon Tempe. Forest running (actually, mostly meadows). Had planned to do an "easy" run in terrain, but legs were pretty tired (I guess from running hard at Berkeley Monday) and it didn't feel that easy. The last part was three loops adjacent to the flat part of Sky Oaks (the loop I use for terrain half-miles).

Did the three "halves" in 531, 526, 500.
