Orienteering race 2:15:00 [5] 8.0 mi (16:52 / mi)
shoes: Asics trail shoes

Red course at Mt. Norwottuck. Traveled with wwk. Got the first 7 cleanly, with some luck involved: from #5 to #6 I took a direct bearing and spiked it despite seeing only one of the trails and nothing that struck me as deserving light green. #8 was a disaster, as I failed to appreciate the density of unmapped twisty mountain bike trails. #9 through #11 were ok, then another disaster on #12.

By this point I was unusually tired and looking forward to the end; this cost me a valid finish. I had seen #14 on my way to #2 at the beginning and somehow in my mind #14 became the final control. As a result, skipped #15 so was DQed, which has happened an awful lot this year.

(Looking back at the GPS track, #8 was not quite as bad as I thought, but #12 definitely was. In both cases I clearly relied on misleading and unmapped trails.)
