Running 33:35 [3] 3.6 mi (9:20 / mi)
(injured) shoes: Brooks Running 2

Life is incredibly crazy right now, so running has been suffering. Presto was kind of going insane, and I actually got out of lab by 7:30, so we went on a run from my apartment to the river and then did the JFK-River St. loop crossing every bridge. My legs were kind of tight and a bit painful probably from a combination of my hip and being in lab so many hours this week, but they held up. We saw a rabbit, which Presto really wanted to chase. It was perfect running weather and quite nice to be out.

Orienteering 1:10:58 [3] *** 4.4 km (16:08 / km)
19c (injured) shoes: New Balance Orienteering

Memory-O course designed by Brendan. Alex, Presto, and I ran together. Alex and I switched off who was memorized and leading. Presto always followed. Maybe I should let him check out a map one of these days :-). I thought this was a really fun exercise. Alex and I seemed to be about the same speed, which was good. It was really hard to keep from looking at the map, especially once I got inside the circle. At the very beginning, I also didn't wasn't using my compass, since I wasn't using my map and took us in 2 circles on the way to number 2. It was rather surprising to show back up very close to where we started. After that, things started going much smoother, which was good. My hip started hurting on the way to 10 or so, not too badly, but it was getting progressively worse as we continued. I thought about quitting after 14, but Alex pointed out that if we skipped 16, 21, and 22, it was more or less a straight-ish shot back, so we did that. Actual distance was 3.5mi according to Alex's Garmin, and the actual time was a bit shorter since this includes time stopped at controls taking a last memorizing look.
