Orienteering 1:17:58 [3] *** 4.8 km (16:15 / km)
16c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Green course at Needham Town Forest with Presto! I was feeling kind of tired from yesterday and vaguely sick, so I wasn't especially thrilled about pushing through the large amount of vegetation covering the forest. I also made some truly idiotic mistakes including a 180, which I only realized I'd done because I passed this guy peeing on the side of the trail that I'd seen just before doing the 180 as well...this amused me :-). Anyway, the best that can be said of this course was that Presto stayed quite close to me the entire time, and we finished.

Orienteering 5:00 [3] *** 1.0 km (5:00 / km)
7c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Picking up 7 controls with Presto after taking a nap in the car. The controls are kind of large. I am kind of small.

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Normal stretching.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Running between the parking lot and Big Island a gazillion times with Presto and various other people.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] 1.0 mi (30:00 / mi)
6c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Setting controls on Big Island with Presto. It took me a bit to figure out which boulders were mapped and which weren't, but all in all, it was delightful to set controls on such an accurate map :-).

Orienteering 37:43 [3] *** 2.0 mi (18:51 / mi)
16c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Control pick with Presto! This was awesome fun! I messed up number 1 a bit because I wasn't paying enough attention, but then turned my brain back on and was awesomely on top of things the rest of the time with a slight miss at 9. I don't think I have ever laughed so much during an orienteering course as when Ian with a cheering SGB came tearing passed me at 17 and then again before the finish :-).

Orienteering 1:05:37 [3] *** 2.0 mi (32:48 / mi)
20c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

O-tervals with Katia and Presto! After an awesome lunch (thanks Katia and Giovanni!), Katia, Presto, and I headed out to do the O-tervals. I was not as clean on these as I was in the morning, possibly because of a combination of being tired and trying to increase the speed. Presto was going kind of nuts most of the time, and then at one point just disappeared. Neither Katia nor I had seen him run off, so we started an increasingly panicked 5 minutes of calling him. He finally came tearing back with his tongue hanging about 5 feet out of his mouth and covered in bloody scratches. He went on the leash at that point, which slowed things down a bit (although not as much as stopping completely...). I informed him that he didn't know it yet, but his bloody run had earned him a bath :-).

Stretching 20:00 [3]

Normal stretching plus cruciatus stretches and foam rolling.

Orienteering 35:34 [3] 4.2 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 6

Cambridge Street Traverse with Presto! SGB designed a really cool corridor-O for us in the streets around Cambridge Street. We started in a mass start and Presto took off like a rocket. Eventually the people on the longer course moved off and Presto settled into something more sustainable (at least for my poor arm that was holding him back :-) ). The corridor idea was really cool and required way more focus than a normal street-O. Presto and I made a confused mistake (by which I mean, I made the mistake and Presto gleefully followed me) towards the end where I was confused about whether some "not streets" were counted as streets or not on the map because sometimes they were and sometimes they weren't. Fun, fun!

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Stretching before dinner.

Running 45:03 [3] 5.0 mi (9:01 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 6

Halloween run with Alee and Presto! Alee had heard that there were some awesome houses on Brattle Street, so we ran over to check them out. There were a couple of pretty good ones, but the little kids in costume were cuter :-). Then we ran down to Mt. Auburn Cemetery because well, it was Halloween and back via the river. I think this must have been at least a 1-rabbit run judging by how crazy Presto went at one point down by the river, but I didn't actually see the rabbit.

Strength 5:00 [3]

Abs while Presto squeaked his new squeaky frog that Kiwi won for him in an agility competition :-).

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Normal stretching. Kind of tight.
