Took my time getting to the start, and only jogged a little to see how the legs were functioning.

O-Ringen Etapp 5 - D21L - 45/69 - 49th overall
Was out of the chasing start after 3 days (really must try to make it next time, shouldn't be too difficult if I can stop making these silly big errors). Ended up starting 15s behind Ruth (needing to beat her back by 4min to beat her overall) and 1min before Jane (with a 14min lead overall).
Ruth took it very slow and careful to the first control, and I went hell for leather (which was either going to help me gain those 4min, or totally mess up the race) but it was a nice easy control so I got it no bother and left filled with confidence. Hit the next few cleanly and alone until I hit the long trackroute to #5. Could see lots of people on this and was sure some of them would be on my course, but I stuck to my plan and was suddenly only near a girl on the elitserien course with a slightly different control.
First miss was a slight to #7, and then I took a really poor route to #8. Got confused and had to relocate. Punched at the same time as another girl and for the first time I was running with someone on my course. We were together for the next 2 controls, but I ran away from her on long leg #11.
Annoyingly I took a parallel error "into" the control. Had thought I was just off the path and cut in early thinking I'd hit the path after a few meters, but this never happened. I couldn't understand what had went wrong until I got caught in really sluggish terrain. Managed to lose nearly 9min, urgh. Got back into the flow for the rest, taking it super careful near the end as it was near the tricky area from etapp 1.
Was strange to run most of the course alone when so many of us were starting 15s apart, but I was glad I was running so well (excluding #11).
Was happy that even with #11 I managed to overtake Ruth overall and leap into the top 50, which hadn't seemed a realistic aim before the race.
I'm hoping for much better at the Scottish 6-day though.
