Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Cross Control

Took my time getting to the start, and only jogged a little to see how the legs were functioning.

Orienteering race 1:21:56 [5] *** 7.5 km (10:55 / km)
spiked:12/16c shoes: Jalas Cross Control

O-Ringen Etapp 5 - D21L - 45/69 - 49th overall

Was out of the chasing start after 3 days (really must try to make it next time, shouldn't be too difficult if I can stop making these silly big errors). Ended up starting 15s behind Ruth (needing to beat her back by 4min to beat her overall) and 1min before Jane (with a 14min lead overall).

Ruth took it very slow and careful to the first control, and I went hell for leather (which was either going to help me gain those 4min, or totally mess up the race) but it was a nice easy control so I got it no bother and left filled with confidence. Hit the next few cleanly and alone until I hit the long trackroute to #5. Could see lots of people on this and was sure some of them would be on my course, but I stuck to my plan and was suddenly only near a girl on the elitserien course with a slightly different control.
First miss was a slight to #7, and then I took a really poor route to #8. Got confused and had to relocate. Punched at the same time as another girl and for the first time I was running with someone on my course. We were together for the next 2 controls, but I ran away from her on long leg #11.
Annoyingly I took a parallel error "into" the control. Had thought I was just off the path and cut in early thinking I'd hit the path after a few meters, but this never happened. I couldn't understand what had went wrong until I got caught in really sluggish terrain. Managed to lose nearly 9min, urgh. Got back into the flow for the rest, taking it super careful near the end as it was near the tricky area from etapp 1.

Was strange to run most of the course alone when so many of us were starting 15s apart, but I was glad I was running so well (excluding #11).
Was happy that even with #11 I managed to overtake Ruth overall and leap into the top 50, which hadn't seemed a realistic aim before the race.
I'm hoping for much better at the Scottish 6-day though.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Cross Control

Was definitely not running the 3.4 km to the start. Legs feeling abit tight, stomach abit ugh, but knew I'd feel fine when I started the race.

Orienteering race 43:48 [5] *** 4.4 km (9:57 / km)
spiked:13/15c shoes: Jalas Cross Control

O-Ringen Etapp 4 - D21L - 40/71

Started the race with more confidence than you would expect from one in my current standing of 58th. Reasons: it was a middle-distance, 1:10,000, and I felt that I'd been performing below par other days.
Felt good out on the course too. Map was much easier to read with the larger scale, and if I was ever in doubt I just stopped and made sure I knew what I was doing. Had a few controls when I went to the wrong hillside (#3 and #9) and a few where getting across marshes was really tough going (#8 and #9).
Nearly messed the race to #13 when my line wasn't very accurate, but I stopped, worked it out, and minimised the mistake.

Wasn't so impressed with the time when I finished, as I felt a good flow for the mostpart, but was happy with the position and time adavantage over my closest competitors.

Note
(rest day)

Much needed rest day. Multiday events are a good bit tougher when you reach 21!

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Cross Control

Jogged more than I wanted as I was pushed for time.

Orienteering race 1:33:51 [5] *** 7.4 km (12:41 / km)
spiked:11/15c shoes: Jalas Cross Control

O-Ringen Etapp 3 - D21L - 60/72

This was probably my worst performance, but mainly due to 3 really bad controls. Felt in control for the mostpart.
Bit silly to #1, searching too low, too soon, took a while to relocate and realise my mistake. #2 was dead stupid. Took a direct route which involved needless climb, undergrowth AND a marsh/pond. I had considered the slightly longer path route, but decided to go straight. Stupid stupid. Laura Daniel caught me 8min just after I punched #2, so was with her for the next few controls. I messed up at #5 allowing her to get away.
After this I got into a good flow and felt smooth. Of course, I could not finish on such a high, so had to make a huge miss at the 2nd last control. Relocated a good bit away from where I hoped I was. Looking forward to the rest day tomorrow!

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Jalas Cross Control

Didn't run the whole way of the 3km start. Wanted to save my energy.

Orienteering race 1:33:30 [5] *** 7.8 km (11:59 / km)
spiked:6/12c shoes: Jalas Cross Control

O-Ringen Etapp 2 - D21L - 53/72

Planned to keep slower and more steady today, and it kind of worked. Wasn't great to the first few controls, but minimised time-loss. Silly timeloss at #4 when I decided to approach from above the crag, when it was much easier to approach from below. Seemed to take forever fighting through stuff to get to #5. I must have missed a better route, as I navigated it pretty well, but took forever. #6 I searched to early after taking a great route that got me "there" really fast. Got into a bit of a flow again after that and feel happy that I wouldn't take too much longer to finish...

But then took ages to get the 2nd last control. There were masses of people searching about for controls in the area. And everyone of them seemed to be there as long as me. Was a frustrating end to the race.

Event: O-Ringen

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.4 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: Jalas Cross Control

Jogged most of the way to the start. After a very lazy week or so the legs feel fresh.

Orienteering race 1:42:49 [5] *** 8.1 km (12:42 / km)
spiked:7/13c shoes: Jalas Cross Control

O-Ringen Etapp 1 - D21L - 64/74

The race started ok, but I already missed a great routechoice on the way to the 3rd control. Probably lost about 4min. Was abit unfortunate with my route to #4 which was much slower on the ground than it looked on the map. Race only really fell apart on the way #7 when I just got really confused and started searching too early, and even when I was closer to the control circle I got confused again! Lost nearer 8min on that.
Unfortunately the most difficult part of the map was still to come, and I lost about 12min on 2 controls in that area.

Was glad to finish!
