Yetholm SHR 3rd

Was hoping most people would be away with LAMM/Sedburgh yesterday but warming up saw there was going to be a lot of competition.

First half was lots of up and down on rough terrain. Set off slow but quickly getting dropped and by top of hill one was at the back of a pack of 6. Tom Owens, Eoin, Sam Alexander, Waldie and a Shettleston guy. Tom and Eoin pulled away. Then I started the yoyo where I got dropped on the climb but got back to front of our group by start of next ascent. I overtook Sam 5 times in this race! Each hill though I was getting dropped less and a bit further in front. Eventually only Sam overtook me on the horrible last big climb. Al A had nearly caught us by this point but as soon as we hit the Pennine way I shot off and managed to get a gap even a couple of hills couldn't shrink. So could happily cruise into the finish not breaking myself.

Think I was a couple of minutes down on Tom and maybe one on Eoin.

Happy with that.

I picked up my bike and cycled home via a stop at uni to pick up my work bag (and have a needed drink) then also via Lidl at the end.

~17min tempo on WOL to canal then ~13min on canal till end. WOL was nice with downhill, some shelter and soft underfoot. On the other hand canal was grim with a pretty stiff headwind.
Then had ~20min off with some drills and strides before doing Meadows Mile. It felt less grim than usual but still couldn't find that extra gear.
