More of a short urban with 12 controls and an open residential area. Felt utter crap, not sure if it was predominantly heat or tired feelings from Wednesday.

Fat Rascal Sprints 2 - Cottingley

Classic housing estate and a 15min race. Much happier on this one. Still struggling a lot and I was being so lazy with my orienteering as it was classic british estate and so no traps and could get away without planning ahead.

Need to be more disciplined with these races as don't get too many opportunities to practice.

Realised I had packed two different shoes. Had a Roclite on left foot and x-talon on the right. I think it was the perfect compromise on a course with a road/trail/fell combo.

Bamford Carnival Race

Up and down Win Hill from Bamford sports ground. It was wave starts (30 every 2min) by surname so I was in the 3rd wave. There was single track after about 5min and I was running with big surges to get past where I could. Felt like when I mess up first leg at Jukola and am stuck in the train in about 1000th place.

Made me go too fast I think at the beginning and died on the final section of the climb. Smashed the descent though. A little slower on the single track section again as the later starters were coming up. A lovely evening and a lovely race and would like to come back and have some head to head racing.

Calf a bit tight and achilles a little sore. Pretty annoying to have it flare up again after a relatively good couple of months. It is a bit different this time as is associated with a tight calf so hoping sorting that out will help.

Achilles was a bit sore during the sprints so going to take a couple of days off as am on Holiday with the family anyway.

Did a nice walk with Laura through Dovedale today. As well as some other bits so a fair amount of time on feet.
