Orienteering race 43:32 [5] 5.4 km (8:04 / km)

Ran very hard to the first control straight down the hill and thought I could win or lose here and fortunately I managed to stay in control and dropped right onto the control. Comparing splits later I had more than a 3 second lead so the plan worked! Got a bit caught up in the creek on the 2nd leg but came out right and went over the knoll and again straight into the control. Steady from there to 9 where I lost 30-40 sec as I drifted to the right and was caught up in the rock having to climb back up to the control. A couple of slight hestitations were the only other time lost, a bit more fitness to keep running at the tops of the slopes could have gained another minute or two. Very pleased to have had an almost clean run and to have held off Simmo and Anthea. GPS distance was similar to Simmo at 5.9

Running 57:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:42 / km)

Slow and steady run early morning in Brisbane. Across the Storey Bridge and long the South Side of the river to Queen St then back under the freeway - I always love the scenic aspect of that part of Brisbane (it is the serenity to quote Darryl) - then back through Botanic Gardens and the city.

Mostly concrete pavement so felt hard underfoot but not trying to run hard just a steady pace which is fine at that hour of the morning when I should be asleep especially with the 2 hour time shift
