Trail Running 2:05:00 [3] 13.0 km (9:37 / km) +1000m 6:57 / km

Excellent Trail Run in perfect conditions on the North Shore mountains of Vancouver.

Started from the Seymour Demonstration Forest and then down along Lynn Creek and onto the Baden Powell Trail for a way before heading up Mt Seymour and back down the Mountain bike trails to the river. The Dirty Duo trail has yet more jumps and ramps, the downhill bike riders were out but we managed to run ahead of them but still totally crazy riding. Finished with the road back up to Rice Lake slow and steady grind but kept goning.

Group of 10 but soon split into the fast ones and then the old and slow group, managed to stay ahead of Jim except on the steep downhill where he ran away but then I was quicker than Rik who was getting away on the uphill. Only got out of sight at one junction and was unsure of the way but then caught sight of Rik through the trees.

Great to run with old friends in the best trail running areas.

Not sure of the climb but it was plenty :-)

Road Cycling 1:45:00 [3] 35.0 km (20.0 kph)

rented a bike and rode along False Creek, around English Bay, across Stanley Park, around Sea Wall under the Lions Gate Bridge, back around False Creek past Granville Island to Kits Beach, then back to Granville Bridge and then along the road back to the apartment and bike rental shop. Not sure on the distance but about right.

Just light clouds high the sky so good views of the mountains. Most of the city was either on the beach, walking, riding (very slowly), sitting and drinking coffee and generally enjoying the spring weather. Stacks of nice flowers, tulips, magnolia trees and cherry blossom was the pick of the show. I had forgotten how crowded Vancouver gets on a nice day so spent the ride weaving in and out of traffic, at least the ride around the Stanley Park sea wall is one way otherwise it would be 100% chaos rather than just 75%

Spent the morning helping the Canadian economy with new Salomon shoes $99, ne Handle Bar Bike boxes for the touring bikes, shorts, T-shirt, Bike gloves, Shirt for Fizzzyred, Classic Casio wrist watch (cheaper than trying to get a new band for my Timex Ironman watch) and two thermarests at knock down prices as last years colours.

Dinner last night with old work mates and tonight will be with running club friends

FIxed Bike 7:00 [3]

Warm up and warm down

FIxed Bike 21:00 [3] 10.0 km (28.6 kph)

Fixed time on bike, so called trail ride, I could not see why it was trail as I watched the TV the whole time?

FIxed Bike (sprint) 5:00 [3] 1.8 mi (21.6 mph)

Tried to see how far I got in 5 minutes without blowing out

Treadmill 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Managed to last for 30 minutes on the hotel conveyor belt, watching the Sports Channel which seemd to be mostly shots of Ice Hockey players beating the crap out of each other interspersed with pics of Basketball, Grid Iron and Baseball players also getting into fights. Maybe the way to get Orienteering more television coverage would be to arrange a brawl at control 12?
