MTBO Middle Distance Margaret River

Lots of single track with a complex one way system that made it hard as you had to watch the wheel to stay on the bike so easy to overshoot the junctions. Good fun area with a good mixture of tracks, roads and single track.

Hung in to take 2nd place

Great fun race, was going quite well until we hit the school, had made up my time on Reid but lost it all in the school and then some more going to 16 before 15 and then having to retrace my route back to 16

MTBO Long Distance Margaret River

Total disaster at the start, for some reason thought I was on the east of the road not the west so a 180 out of the triangle. Sorted that after 15 minutes or so then spent a ridiculous amount of time and distance trying to work out the tracks into number 1 - did nearly 10km to get to the control and 49 minutes, Tim Jackson took 2:28!

Got into the track mapping after that and was going at a similar pace to the rest of the M60 for the remainder of the course. Got DQed for going down the road on the last leg, which was far from a quicker route, as I did not see / understand the OOB symbol. Duncan reinstated Ken Post and I later as he must have felt sorry for us old folks!

Only rode 2km less than Ricky who was on Course 1

Thanks to Duncan for the mapping etc, not sure if I will be back on the map for another event but you never say never.

Clean run did not leave more the 30 sec on the course.

STSW 2 - Bunbury Catholic Grammar

Screwed up and ran 2-4-3-5 so DSQ

Also off the pace by 1 or 2 minutes a few route choice errors

Staying with the Legend before the STSW and it seems Tash has dumped him for the New Man and a trip to Melbourne and now I am in the Spring Rogaine. Better start training

Aus Champs Relay Moondyne Road

M55 Team with Rob West and Ken Post, with me 1st leg.

I knew that the first two runners would be Geoff Lawford and Rob Vincent so it was a race for 3rd in the rest of the field. Long 1st leg had people guessing and split the field up straight away, I went right and when I came out along the fence I could see Bruce Bowen 100m ahead. The legs were sluggish on the steady climb but Bruce was confused in the circle and I got the control 1st. Saw Phil Taylor and Tony Radford on the way to 2 and battled to get past them on the rest of the course but managed to get away on the last couple when they made small mistakes. pretty clean run through with a hesitation at 12 where I was a little off line and there were lots of rocks to pick from and I did not want to make a mistake at that stage.

Managed to get in 3rd of the start block so happy with the run.

Again a nice area and good courses from peterk and Russell Candy controlling.
